You could poke around the wilddogs.za.net site. There used to be plenty of okes on their doing day trips in and around the peninsula (Atlantis too if you're feeling brave) and up towards the mountains away from the coast. Not sure how active it is nowadays as I no longer visit there

I had a stint where I thought my ABS had packed up, but it was just a dirty ABS ring, cleaned that of and it was fixed. Then, I had to replace chain, but seeing as it was still the OEM chain on 23k km, that wasn't really a surprise. Only real issue is that the one heated grip stopped working, but there seems to be a fix for that, I just need to get to it.

And ofcourse the afternoon after I said this, on the way home - the negative terminal disconnected from the battery. My fault - with my ABS faults I tried resetting, and didn't tighten it properly afterwards.

But that was fun. Standing on the side of the road with the bike doing nothing.

Shout out to the 5 guys on motorcycles that passed me and did their best not to look in my direction. Including the 2 that were of F800's.

Need to be careful there, in my opinion the people on that forum are mostly hooligans (on and off the road). I'd suggest asking dealers if they have a club, or know of groups riding out regularly. BMW will usually let other brands tag along on their trips and then you also usually have the added safety of a medic and a car with a trailer following. Otherwise you need to get a little lucky I reckon, if you can get your way into the group that made the TV series "Look what you're missing" they ride quite often and are a lekka bunch of people

Don't you have tools under your seat? :confused: Or did you lose the nut that is needed to tighten it down? Also, did you put your helmet down on the road? I vaguely recall that being the sign that you're in actual need of assistance. Not that I think that would've helped though
 
My Shark Explorer R's visor is broken where is clips onto the helmet (by where your ears are). How and where would I be able to get a new visor for it? I assume all visors are not interchangeable, Google is failing me. :(

Whoever sells Shark helmets should be able to source a replacement

Go do the Caledon Canola Run 8 September 2018. It is a one-day (8h00-15h00?) ride for charity through the Overberg farms. Joey Evans (Dakar) will also be there! I have done it every year and enjoy it still.

You have to give this BMW Boxer motor some credit.

Even in full vark mode with only the limiter slowing progress it still manages to maintain 5.2 l/100km over a 40km trip to work.

Is it the liquid cooled on because my 2015 air cooled can't seem to go below 5.8?

Langston's Motorsport are the importers. Based in Jhb though.

Had excellent service from them when one of my vents broke. Took it to them, they replaced all the vents & operating mechanisms, plus gave me a new visor & replaced the foam inserts. Took 30 minutes & they gave me coffee whilst I waited.

For the very reason that you’ve just had a failure that shouldn’t happen.

I would go about a warranty claim if I were you if it’s not too old.

But that being said their customer support locally has been terrible which is why I wouldn’t buy or recommend one again.

Nope, helmet was strapped to the side of my bike. Didn't know about putting it on the ground. Yes, I have tools under the seat - didn't help me a whole lot whilst I couldn't figure out what was going on :) Well that, and I didn't immediately realise I could pull the screwdriver part out, turn it around and have a torx head in place.

Got you,

The helmet is a good 4 years old or so, so not going to get a new one that way. Will remember this for the next one.
