I take the slow way through... keep passing until someone leaves a gap for me (someone usually does).. slip in 5cm behind the car, check mirror, slip out :) I don't do the yellow line, except to get past some road works.

I remember well the first time I saw a proper storm approaching. Gale force winds and heavy rain and the client kept talking and talking. After a bit I said I need to go, otherwise I might not make it home :p The ride was actually not that bad, just needed to get used to being pushed across the lane every few minutes
 
my first wet ride home was the two days after I started riding in to sandton.

my first propper storm was different it was about a year later, and I pulled over at the keg on linksfield had a cup of coffe and waited it out. the wind was just too much that day.
 
Bike finance approved. Sourcing insurance quotes. Daily robbery I tell you :mad:

Dealer waiting for the contract from the bank. If they get it today, I'll be there tomorrow morning, otherwise only tomorrow afternoon.

But ya, first time bike owners get shafted big time. If the other guys don't post their ones I'll dig for the suggestions I've been presented with in the past. Premiums can get really low but the excess can amount to 30% of claim value in a worst case scenario

How deep of a shaft does R1050 sound?
 
Insurance premiums are based on many factors. Things like your age, type and engine size, how long you've had your license, insurance history... It's usually older riders who purchase these 200k bikes and pay so little. If I had to get the bike I really wanted, I'd be smacked with a 4k premium....

They call the emergency lanes the "suicide lane" for a reason, especially the right-hand lane. You often get guys on the highway speeding down there...if something happens there is a concrete wall waiting for you.
