I need new insurance, paying over R300 per month, for my tiny little bike. And I actually read my policy the other day, I get totally screwed as I don't have a full licence (like 6K excess or something silly, if I claim).

Try the guys I'm getting New Wheels, or Sinbad's guy.
 
R165... insured for R35k

And when I had my incident there was a claim for R17k

...but then I've had the license since 2003
 
On the topic of splitting, what do you guys do when there's a road block? split while its 2 or more lanes but after they merge it into 1 lane then?? i always felt like cops will pull you off just cause you split, but i've seen bikers split past me when i'm in the car.

Unlikely your premium will become much less.

But the excess could be better.

Also just get a license. What's the hold up?

Road Block proper I would probably just fall in line.

But like stop/go roadworks type stuff is where I'll sometimes go into the yellow and skip to the front.

All circumstantial really.

Generally when they pull bikes over it's because they have real reason to.

Nothing more than a general avoidance of the traffic department, I will do it early next year.

I'm not too fussed about the premium, but the excess is about a fifth of the insured value, which is nuts.

Yeah when you consider mine is R2500 or 5% come hell or high water it is pretty mental.
 
Faan do you have all the gear?
Helmet, Jacket, riding pants, wet weather gear, a decent pair of shoes?

and the most important thing, really really good gloves.
a helmet is required by law, so make sure that is really good, I mean it is your head.

Gloves is the thing that goes not get the attention it deserves.
you want light but durable summer gloves
and really high quality winter gloves. and you want both on you at all times. nothing worse then riding into a sudden highfelt thunder storm whit summer gloves.
everything gets wet, you wait out the rain, then the wet gloves just become the worst thing ever...
 
I got Metalize race gloves. But I got them from Randburg motorcycles, and have since found them cheaper at biker's warehouse.
That place is awesome for gear. It's where I got my boots.

where are they?
thinking of going to the Full Throttle "old stock" shop this weekend.

Might get a jacket from a colleague. No gloves yet, will get that on the weekend.

the "old stock" shop in edenvale was closed last time I was in the area.

please, do not ride in the rain at all if you do not have all the gear. do not be one of those riders. always wear all the gear dude.
