Will the nc handle the same off road as the transalp? Or is it more road biased?
Any recommendations for someone who has never ridden a bike before but is considering it as an alternative to commuting to work by car every day?
I'd say I'm shorter than average but not super short... Must I measure my height?
So here's another feature about my NC750XD that I didn't know about.
Riding in this morning with the wet roads I stop at the front between the cars, at the robot. Robot turns green, I pull away. The backend just slips out side ways. Man down. The car that was to the left of me, a bakkie, it's side is against my frontwheel and the fukker just wants to keep driving. Bliksem, so I almost smashed his window telling him to STAHP! YOU DUMB FUKK! Anyway, So I pick up the bike, and because the bike is kinda top light, it picked up quite easily. But that's not the feature I was talking about. Before I get back on, I put it on it's stand and have a quick look to survey the damage. Vokkol. Not a scratch, not a chip, vokkol! <- You can clap now, that's the feature I mentioned up top.
Needless to say the rest of the ride was taken with much more care. I have absolutely no idea what happened. Maybe too much torque for the wet road, maybe I was on the white line, maybe there was a bit of oil or something on the road. Who knows.
The good thing here is that you came out of it ok. This was from pull away though?!

Painted road lines might have happened. Notoriously slippery when wet and is one of the reasons I avoided lane splitting and filtering like the plague on wet roads.

If you have slow to still standing traffic, look at a [-]scooter[/-] Grom.
It your traffic is faster than 60km/h ... then rather a bike.
[-]Scooter[/-] Grom is good for up to 80km/h ... after that, they are to sluggish.

my 2 cents - if you are around 80kg and less, get yourself a nice 2nd hand CBX Twister 250cc (2008 around R15k) - very nice bike, runs forever and you could easily get up to around 120km/h - 140km/h if needed. The best part about it, is once you are confident with your riding ability and decide to upgrade, you could still sell the twister for around the price that you paid - your gear will probably cost you about the same as the Twister, but buy wise not cheap and you find that if you ever move to a bigger bike, you wont need to shell out for gear again
Yep, from pull away
LOL earlier in the ride, I crossed some standing water, and there was a robot just after it. Obviously using more backbreak than front to stop, it felt like something was under my break pedal.... i think it was the ABS kicking in :wtf:
