I'll probably get myself a Skwal for peace of mind but I wonder how much better the Shark's really are.

Not the same guy. Nobody else I know has been crazy enough to risk it.

There are also various versions of ECE I believe.

Shark is expensive these days, but it always comes down to getting what you are paying for.

Plugging Shark in here it still gets ratings across the board.

Hmm, well that limits my options to:

Spirit .... which has the "unknown" quality probelms
Airoh - (Airoh Storm) which I'm not familiar with
Bell - Bell Qualifier etc.
Shark - which I know and used (like face first on the tarmac) before and am comfortable with. Bit a of a "premium" for them, think you pay for the name :/

I have the Airoh, was about 3.5k from Honda when I bought the bike. Seems solid enough, tbh i didn't do any real investigation.

Which one? If it has the sunvisor it is probably a Storm.

What about ventilation, pinlock etc? In other words, is it a sweat sauna in the summer? :p

They are ECE approved (and SABS if that really matters), half the price of the equivalent Shark (maybe due to it being locally manufactured?!). Anybody here own one or care to comment?

Felt really cheap to me due to having the absolute minimum padding inside. It felt like I was wearing a full face hard hat essentially.

Think I'll just give it a skip (well, I'll go fit one anyway but you guys being so negative have put me off them :p )

Airoh is quite well regarded I believe.

Never used one myself though.

They do make it onto the Sharp website so you can go do some deeper reading.

Ratings on Sharp is quite varied and the the specific models here (Shot, Storm) are not on there. BUT, I'll investigate.

Thanks guys.

I had a very nice inspector, told me what he wanted before each section.

What I didn't know is that after each section, you must still do observations before moving onto the next section. Lost 3x5 points.
 
So had tried on one of the Spirit helmets (Torque model).

Made from fibreglass so really light. Can honestly not see why you'd take a Shark 700 over this specific one.

The other Spirit ones don't look like anything special.

Btw, if anybody cared, they're designed here but manufactured in China, India etc.
