Only a test ride can answer that question for you.
I haven't ridden the new one or the SP but have ridden the Hyperstrada.
It's a cool bike and all but wasn't really practicality fit for my purposes.
My bigger problem is that I've ridden pretty much every modern Ducati except the Panigale and the brand as a whole has just generally left me disappointed.
I can't tell you how much I feel you are paying for nothing but the name and that bikes 100k less are often easily on par if not more so.
Not to mentoin servicing them is just stupid expensive (although less frequent than most at 15k intervals).
The DRP helps but was still too short to make it worth it for me really.
I would probably only ever buy one very second hand.
The Hypermotard is in a very unique class of its own which does make it very tricky.
At least up north you have the benefit of a proper dealership and Ducati Johannesburg is an experience in and of itself. Outside of the bikes the dealer experience up there is right on par with BMW.

I also use a Skwal paid about 3.8k last year on special.
Only gripe so far are chips on the visor.
Don't know how they form, or why its a line, But there's 2 of those lines of chips.

Time to add another bike to my stable. I need a fast long distance tourer that doubles as a somerset west -CPT commuter capable of carrying pillion and luggage/shopping
Rocket too expensive on fuel and to modify for pillion requires R7000 backrest mod which was R3000 not three years ago
Dual purpose highly modded Versys has BMW top and side panniers and is excellent touring commute bike -easily splits lanes in heavy traffic but when you add our wind on exit corridors out of town and add pillion and fill boxes the bike becomes sluggish to maneuver but still does the job but not as comfortable and it feels underpowered hauling extra weight over and above extra mods so after nearly dying of shock seeing latest sticker prices on pure road touring bikes (260k ++ for kawasaki 1400 ) I located a mint BMW K 1300GT full house up country 2012 with under 20k on clock selling for 50k less than blue book value and this model has been discontinued as the k1600 took over . However performance wise you could slide a rizzla between the two so not a lot of difference but price wise thousands!
I ve not owned BMW bikes and have experience on all engines 250-cc -2.3 liter but have been reading stories on the reliability of the K bikes - particularly final drive issues and cam chain jumping . I don't know how true or widespread these flaws are but I do know that A sort of BMW recall was issued but left it to their Dealers to sort the issues at their discretion to replace at BMW cost but when I asked the seller of the K1300gt if his dealer recalled the bike for a cam chain jump guard ( to prevent the motor destroying itself) he said his bike had not been recalled and was unaware of the issues. Any BM riders here to shine a bit of light before I interrogate the Stealers?

Get VIN number, phone dealership and enquire if any recall is required and if so if it was ever done. While you're on the phone with them, ask them for it's history. BMW is usually quite friendly and helpful in this regard, I just can't remember if the dealerships share their info with one another
edit: and BMW is usually quite quite to update production models with the recall updates, so later models are fine. I quickly looked and from 2011 onwards the cam chain guard should be in place from the factory

Considering my recent experiences I actually won't throw BMW Motorrad in with the "stealers" as they have been very reasonable.
Call them with the VIN number or even go there and they should be able to provide you a full history.

Anybody here ever done a 3rd party claim for repairs on your bike? I got the quote yesterday for repairs of my bike. I've send it over to the guy that ran me over and his insurance. They're asking for a lot of stuff, almost got everything ready to send them.
Now, the damage is more than half of what my bike was bought for, almost 2 months back (brand new). Almost 70%. I almost paid the deposit they require when you accept the quote, so that they can start with repairs. But then someone told me, that the 3rd party insurance will most likely scrap the bike and pay out for a new one.
How likely is that? Or will they just repair the bike?

Did some research and apparently each insurance company uses different calculation methods to determine if the bike is a write off . But from what I can gather the accident was pretty severe ("Almost 70%") so they will most likely write it off .My personnel advice to you is either get it repaired and sell the bike or let the insurance company pay out (once a bike was in a accident it's never the same )

It all depends on the chances of comebacks after the repair. Like a car when the chassis is bent etc you're likely to never get it back to 100% straight.
If it's cosmetic type damage it'll more than likely be fixed also as you are not their client they might up the limit of the damage before write off.
Also remember your quote will be assessed and brought down to actual damage and costing with a normal profit not a anc profit margin.

Thx BM advice contributors . Information is accurate and while they may not be stealers they aren't cheap but I did notice some reasonably priced decent boots. But costs of new bikes and parts in All dealerships is eyewatering.

The biggest difference I've found with them is that they break down labour to 5 minutes and don't charge for full hours for silly little stuff.
Makes a huge difference overall.
