Skwal feels a bit more cramped than the others (will still adjust as I wear it more) but cannot fault the quality. I don't doubt it saving my brains for one second either.

Only thing I did notice was some wind noise (whistling) but it only happened once or twice and wasn't loud.

You should really fit and hold one and compare it to one of the other brands in the same price range. The only other helmets I really considered was the Airoh Storm and the Bell Qualifier. The latter has an visor that adapts to the light conditions. Looked cool but the visor alone is about R3000 to replace should you scratch it.
 
I recently just purchased a 2013 BMW F800 GS from Donford Cpt.
Havent had a bike since school days.

Really enjoying it. I ended up ordering a LS2 Pioneer helmet from MotardInn.com. Worked out to similar to price to the Spirit DSV but gets much better reviews.

I also ordered a bluetooth telecom system from Gearbest seemed to get pretty good reviews for a $32 device.
Wasnt going to spend R2k on a system without knowing if I would actually use it.

Next purchase needs to be a topbox the bike came with the BMW baseplate but the BMW topboxes are insanely priced.
Been looking at FlyingBrick they have a box and base plate for R5k.

Any import duties on the helmet? The ones I want later this year are not stocked locally.

As for topbox, my 50L Givi is still going strong. Bigger is certainly better in this case.
 
There will most likely be import duty will let you know once it arrives.
With shipping it was R1900 so I'm guess import duty might be about R500-700 which will still make it a pretty good deal.

Once you've ridden in a group with intercomms you'll never go without again. Even driving solo just listening to music. I never go anywhere without my Sena.

I would hold out for the next gen bluetooth headsets if I were to buy now.

Nice bike. Grats. Do a GS Trophy event - you won't regret it.
 
My long term plan is to get a SENA 10R
Has anyone bought from MotardInn.com before.
Prices are not that bad and the offer tracked shipping via SAPO which is not ideal but cheap.
Paid R320 to ship a helmet. They based in Spain.

Well this is the first road helmet I've owned so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I held a friend's spirit helmet and build quality I can definitely say is good on the shark. It feels solid, the visor and the internal sun visor open and close with a solid feel.

Noise, I always wear ear plugs when doing highway speeds, though as Hamster mentioned I do recall some whistling, not bad for short trips but will get to you on a long run. With plugs in though its perfect.

One thing I like is the space provided to put speakers in for a senna or equivalent. Works nicely and helmet fit is exactly the same with or without the speaker in.

The L.E.D system is pretty cool, always turns heads and for night riders I think it helps a ton with visibility. People aren't used to seeing it so they pay more attention. Just keeping it charged can be a pain if you're forgetful like me. It runs off of 1 rechargeable AAA battery. 4 leds.

As mentioned before my only gripe are the small chips in the visor I seem to be getting though I don't know how or what is causing it.

An idiot yesterday thought it's more important to see what's going on on their cellphone instead of the road ahead.

Bummed into me while waiting at a red traffic light.

Luckily no injuries to me or damage to my bike. My rear facing GoPro came in handy.

And that's why lane splitting is safer.

When I got back into bikes after a little hiatus I thought let's try this civil thing of now jumping to the front of the queue at robots especially when turning and just be a car.

Got tapped from behind something like three times in two weeks on a brand new bike.
 
Once again I utterly failed at GoPro because the stupid ****ing thing wouldn't talk to my phone so I could setup the preview and therefore has to angle it manually.

Which was a fail as it was pointed top low and you hardly see the horizon.

Don't fall for the marketing hype. GoPro is actually a piece of ****, especially for the purposes of bikes the mounts make no sense either.

Buy a Sony Actioncam or Drift instead.

At least Google Photos made this monstrous Triumph Trophy look pretty.
