Any suggestions for protecting the tiles that my bike will be standing on? Garage is fully tiled and was thinking of getting some of those rubber interlocking mats (like this)
 
1. unless your bike is heavier than your cage, I don't see why you would need to protect the tiles (unless it is a harley and you want to protect the tiles from oil leaks :D ) Disclaimer: I ride a harley and this is a joke I hear all the time, a lot like the land rover and oil leaks jokes
2. depending on how long your bike is parked, you should considered stands to rather raise the wheels of the tiles to avoid flat spots developing on the tyres due to the bike standing in a spot for too long

1) The tiles are crazy slippery
2) I think that a metal sidestand / centerstand being deployed every day would make the odds of cracking a tile quite good

Thanks, been struggling to find something in CT. Better than the ±R300 for this stuff cut off a roll

Aahh, OK. Fortunately my bike kick stand is rounded off nicely so the impact on the floor is zero

Yea - at 100m/square, it is cheaper than tiling. I used to think that they were R100 each which is why I have never explored this option.

I honestly don't understand why we still don't have a Full Throttle down here.

If I had the capital I would start it.
 
Had an experience last night. Some vehicle must have been carrying oil or something slippy, and spilled it. The road for more than 100m was covered in this dark substance (I assume oil, but it was at night). Pulling brakes to stop at a robot, front wheel instantly locked. I was able to release, get my feet out and remain upright; braked again, wheel locked instantly again. Just no traction at all, as I was hardly pulling the lever.

Managed to stop before the intersection, but I'm glad there wasn't much traffic. Absolutely kakked myself.

Sounds like diesel . Ja it's *** because normally you can't do anything but you got off lucky.
During the day you can only really see diesel in wet weather as a rainbow of fluid.

Yea I was very lucky. Could only see it as a darker road surface, not reflective so it wasn't very wet.
 
My first thought was black ice but don't think it's cold enough yet for that
