Just to vent a bit

I was lane splitting down republic road today. Doing 30 or so. Taxi decides to suddenly change lanes. Wipes me out. My beloved daytona 675 is in pieces. My hip and elbow bruised but luckily had all my gear on.

Cop car drives past the scene. I try wave them down. What do they do? Make eye contact with me and keep going. F u taxi and f u saps

Bike is a write off

ag nee :( sad

also i haven't been on a bike for over 6 weeks. and probably have another 5 at least to go :(

Eish bru, sorry to hear that. Glad you're okay though. Did the taxi stop? Do you have details?

Even if he did, personally I don't think anything will come of it. Getting anything insurance wise out of a taxi driver is a lost cause.

I’m guessing the “in pieces” part is just a bit of artistic license because I don’t see how that happens at 30km/h.

But anyway it’s always *** if that happens, so sorry to hear about.

Just not sure how it amounts to a write off. How old is the bike?

Got my jacket back from Rocksole, really happy with their work. And they are super friendly too, I have not experienced such service in a very long time

Is the CrossHelmet the smart motorcycle helmet we have been waiting for?

The CrossHelmet comes with all the bells and whistles you can expect out of a smart helmet. Let’s go through some of the features and give you an idea of what you can expect from this cool riding gadget.

Features:

- Heads-up display: A couple displays fold out of the top, giving you a look at all the information you may need. This includes weather details, navigation, stats and more.
- Rearview camera: A camera mounted in the back of the helmet gives you a clear view of what’s going on behind you. No need to turn your whole head (I still would, just in case); simply look up to take a glance.
- Bluetooth connectivity: Listen to your music, make calls, take advantage of Group Talk, use digital assistants and control sound canceling features (CrossSound Control) to optimize your riding experience.
- Touch controls: You don’t need to rely on voice to interact with the helmet. There is a touch panel on the right side, which seems to be sensitive enough to be operated with gloves on.

Though this helmet is full of tech, the creators didn’t skimp out on security. The full-face design is made with aerodynamics and safety in mind. They have worked to make the helmet compliant with the standards from every country they ship to. These include DOT, ECE 22.05 and JIS. The battery is also said to be completely risk free, not prone to leaks, smoke, fire or explosions.

Now if only they could make it look half decent... I don't really dig the Ant-Man look.

I'm a fan of Skully.

Mulder too...

Seriously though, the Skully looked much better, at least from what I remember.

Tbh, I'd take either, one.

Yup. They really know their stuff unlike Barksole.

Glad you also had a good experience.

As cool as smart helmets are, I wouldn't get one... Simply because after 5 years you've got to repeat the whole exercise and chuck away lots of (probably) still working items like the screen, speakers, CPU, etc. This stuff needs to be modular, let me choose my helmet and integrate this system aftermarket

what summer jackets are you guys wearing?

I'm looking for the coolest summer jacket possible

100% ! I'm getting half way now on my Arai TX4.... replacement cost is scary! I might look at the BMW GS Helmet next. Another thing that concerns me with these gadgets in helmets, how to they affect the shell strength and the protective inner layer. After watching Arai's Tech Talk, I wouldn't want a helmet with a sun visor or no breakaway bits ever again!
