Aaah, OK, thanks, I had a UVEX carbon myself and was happy with it except for the visor mechanism that gave me hassles - the Desert Fox seems to have a better mechanism
 
That seat looks awesome , so much wider I am sure it will be comfy .

I didn't see this post before the weekend, but went past there and picked up a Skwal by coincidence. Lovely helmet - the lights are a bit of a gimmick I'd say - not really that bright.

Doing learners today :) Please hold thumbs.

And found out that the bike I'd reserved was sent back to owner, I'll get feedback from them today as well, but might be shopping around again. Would it be worthwhile to go for an F800 over the F700 as a beginner? I'm quite tall so I don't think the height difference will be a big issue. Any other reason that I should stick with F700? The F800 has a much bigger second hand variety and options.

Go and test the bikes, I had the F700 and after about 3 months regretted my purchase decision.

Tested and eventually bought the 1200GSA and have not looked back.

Even if you not into the whole GSA feel, go for a 1200GS or even the 1200XR

I would agree, the 700 will limit you in the long run. Its primarily equipped to run on road. The mag wheels can do some light off road, but I would rather go 800 with the spoke wheels and slightly more power. The 1200 is obviously a beautiful bike in all aspects, but can be intimidating for a new rider due to the size, but I can tell you that even the 1200GSA which is a lot wider than the GS is a very nimble bike with amazing balance. It feels much lighter than it is. But I had an 800GSA and loved it, its a great bike. Just not so much for the pillion when standing off-road.

I would wait for that! The tubeless spoke wheels are what all 800GS owners have been waiting for!!!

Being more visible at night is a good thing. Getting tired of being invisible. Next bike is going to be white or brightest color option possible and same for next jacket.
 
Cool. Ok. Will be looking at the 800 then as well. Not entirely feeling like I want to go for the 1200 - even though there is a lot of really beautiful specimens available.

Will stick to 700/800 after test drive :)

Are you living in the future?

Also the XR is an insane bike for anyone reasonably new to riding. May as well just go and buy a 'Busa then. For that matter it's an insane bike for a veteran even.

I agree that the 700 is not a great bike purely because it's compromised and not that much cheaper really, but to jump straight to a 1200 is also madness.
