I was completely dry when I got to work (well, maybe a little damp from sweat).

So its not only me that gets hot and sweats after a bike ride, even if its cool out with the inner taken out of my jacket, i'm cool while riding but hot when i get off. a lot of the time i put it down to the adrenaline since i'm a spirited rider. but i just don't know.

Me too. I normally feel this most in winter... cold while riding, warm when i've stopped. I write this up as ambient temperature differs quite a bit between riding temperature and stopped/dismount temperature.

I overheat like crazy under normal circumstances. After 30min on the bike in the leather I'm drenched. It's gross.

See that's the thing, I'm cool when riding, which I understand why. But once I get off I'm hot enough to sweat, and it takes a bit for me to sweat.

Also it doesn't matter that I take the gear off immediately. I still sweat as if I was just running or something.

I normally get to the office and have to pop the Aircon on tool cool down fast.

It's about your current body temp vs ambient temp, and the difference between the two.

To someone who's current temp is 30* (standing outside having a skyf), 32 won't feel much warmer...
To someone who's current temp is 25* (getting of a bike), 32 feels a LOT warmer...

*numbers use as way of example only, and should not be used for any other purpose

Alright, so MX boots are better in terms of protection, but I wouldn't use them on a commute, especially if you need to climb any stairs after the ride. The protection comes from a very stiff and hard shell that goes basically up to your knees, simply not made for walking (easily). So the Forma boots will be a good compromise, especially considering the price. Flexible enough to walk around a bit in, but decent protection for light off road stuff (I wouldn't go do motocross in them for instance). Depending on your price bracket, I find the Sidi Adventure boots to be amazing since they have a hinge mechanism that allows them to build in greater stiffness/protection while allowing reasonable movement for walking. And they are GoreTex so breathable, waterproof, blah blah. But they are about R6500

Eish. That is breaking the budget a bit there. The Forma's are about at the upper end of my boot budget. That and the Leatt is a crap ton of cash.. :(

Buy the best you can afford (that is all anyone should do), go with the Forma boots :) If memory serves me well they have decent protection all round, just lack stiffness to protect against twisting an ankle.

Be wary when buying the Forma boots - they tend to crack and the stitching on the seams comes loose. For me this was probably coz I walk around with my boots at events and rallies (I don't carry an extra pair of shoes like some riders do). The forma adventure boots are way better
 
Almost time for a new helmet :D
Anyone know if there is a place around CT that sells Bell helmets? Kinda like the MX9 even though it doesn't have a internal sun visor. Otherwise it'll be the Caberg Tourmax or XTrace, unless the expensive helmets are ultra amazing and a perfect fit.

I am a bit concerned about the Caberg though, it's not as good a fit as my Scorpion helmet, but it seems like Scorpion isn't sold here anymore. I am not sure though if that is down to the fact that dual sports often don't have as much padding come round the front of the helmet vs the road variants. Shark I know doesn't fit (tried a large, medium and small) as it always moves around far too much. Won't touch Spirit, so what else is there really?
