Almost time for a new helmet :D
Anyone know if there is a place around CT that sells Bell helmets? Kinda like the MX9 even though it doesn't have a internal sun visor. Otherwise it'll be the Caberg Tourmax or XTrace, unless the expensive helmets are ultra amazing and a perfect fit.

I am a bit concerned about the Caberg though, it's not as good a fit as my Scorpion helmet, but it seems like Scorpion isn't sold here anymore. I am not sure though if that is down to the fact that dual sports often don't have as much padding come round the front of the helmet vs the road variants. Shark I know doesn't fit (tried a large, medium and small) as it always moves around far too much. Won't touch Spirit, so what else is there really?

@Archer, I had an Arai TX4 (stupid expensive), got so gatvol of its misting up issues I sold it and bought the BMW GS Helmet. GS Helmet is still pricy, but at least 2 to 3k cheaper than the Arai. I really must say, it is pretty darn good.

So I sent my S1000XR in to have a niggle looked at and I got a Kawa Z650 as a loaner.

It's like going from a Benz to a Yaris. I kept trying to use the quickshifter and I probably looked quite weird being 1.87m on that tiny bike.

Can't wait to get the Beemer back!

Well my Gear Shift Assist Pro (BMW speak for an up/down quickshifter) is ****ed again.

Worse than it was before as it now doesn't just shift badly, it completely locks out and doesn't shirt at all.

Let's see what BMW says after my email this morning, but one would think there is a 2-year warranty on the replacement of the unit they did before.

Starting to wonder if it's the linkage or gearbox itself, but then that would be a problem when using it "manually" as well.

Oh one thing the helmet must have is a peak. That seems to rule out HJC (at least at the stores in CT?). Arai is firmly in the expensive helmets category :p
Have you checked the Airoh S5 has a removable peak and an drop down visor that comes all the way down. The frustrating part about internal visors is that most end in the middle of your line of sight. I almost got the airoh before I decided on the shark only because the visor came down even further.
Also check the O'Neil Sierra they look really great.

Just got the call that my finance has been approved for a F800GS. :) Will post pics once I have it :)

Please help with this: True or False..... A kick starter will not work if you hold the clutch in while kicking?

I reckon it would depend entirely from bike to bike.

Some require the bike to be in neutral with the clutch in, others with the clutch out. Others will let you start it in 1st with the clutch in, and yet others with the stand up or down in certain conditions.

And then there is also the kill switch to consider.

Who was on an MT-07/9 this morning heading towards Sandton from 14th Ave?

I was on the XR that gave you beans!

Grumble grumble, why on earth do people think that strapping a miniature sun to the front of their bikes is a good idea? A guy from around Uitzicht on the latest Africa Twin has incredibly bright lights - I couldn't see the rider until he was about 10m away, and I couldn't make out where in the lane he was until then either.

So that you can see them, duh!!

I don't like it either, I ride with brights on while lane splitting and that's it. It's bloody inconsiderate to shine your lights in the other road user's eyes.
