/makes note to keep far away from Sinbad

lol
I moved off towards one of the maneuvers with the stupid kickstand down. I'm guessing he didn't spot it.... Corrected it before I stopped at the T... Not gonna happen on a real bike :p

The thing to look out for here is any added friction modifiers are a no-no for bikes with a wet clutch system that shares gearbox and motor oil.

The friction plates inside the clutch don't like friction modifiers (also called 'energy saving oil') and normally you'd need to replace those plates after contamination with the incorrect oil as they tend to absorb the oil to an extent.

There is a link somewhere on the internet explaining the different oil specs and what the abbreviations and so on mean. Will see if I can find it somewhere.

Also car oil is designed just to lubricate the engine, while motorcycle oil has to double up as gearbox oil. The two are different and have different characteristics. Never put car oil in your bike!

So I started the process to sell my F800GS and go completely bike-less even had viewing appointments lined up. While I was washing the motorcycle for said appointments sanity prevailed.

I will however now have to do budgetary cuts somewhere else.

Shew, you need to be careful making statements like that when one of the most popular bikes in SA does not share its engine oil with the transmission.

edit: I'm actually finding quite a few bikes that are like this.

At the end of the day, put in oil as recommended by the manufacturer. Or oil that meets their specs completely.

Passed. The oom was generous with me. I made one cockup that could have been a fail, he docked me 1 point

congrats! so did you go for lessons? i will be doing mine in the next month, been riding for 2 years now, i feel like i can pass without lessons just not sure. also what bike did you use? i don't have a friend with a 150cc that i could use. so would going on my ER6-F spell trouble?

I had 2 lessons. I would strongly recommend them. There are lots of little catches that you need to know about.
The bike school I used loaned me a bike for the test, mine is automatic. There's no reason you can't pass on your own bike though.
Can't see where about you are, I used biker bravado in randburg. [email protected] if you're nearby. Great guys.

There are? Maybe scrubs like you need the training, I passed first time without any training  I did however spy on the people who paid for training :p

Lol
OK then.. I wouldn't have passed.

I'm a cheapskate at the weirdest of times, and this test was one of them.

@Zuner, PM me if you want the test

just checked and it was you who sent me the test some time back, i recently downloaded it, haven't begun reading and doing the test yet, generally speaking i'm a decent capable rider so i'm not worried, its only the formalities like checking the bike before setting off that worry me.

I didn't know what to check either, so I simply applied all the checks from the car test that I thought applied :p Think I left out 2 or 3 checks because of that.

I don't suppose somebody here knows whether the Airoh S5 has cutouts for speakers? I haven't been able to find anything online, and the store is a bit slow with their emails :p

I actually planned on booking my test today, but since sinbad got a date of the next working day, I don't think I'm ready to do the test tomorrow. My bike has developed an idling issue and I have no idea about the checks and formalities that are required. So I will delay the booking a bit.

Archer I sent you a PM to get the test please, I'd really appreciate the help.
