Please let me know if you ever find any. I will also tell you here where I found them if I do. Ta.

P.S. I bought a pair from AliExpress but when they arrived, they were bigger then the normal ones even. False advertising. :X3:

The 2019 Harley-Davidson LiveWire Is Far Too Expensive

Struggling motorcycle company Harley-Davidson’s vision for embracing the future is offering a full line of electric motorcycles by 2022. The first of these electrified bikes will be the 2019 LiveWire and, like all other Harley motorcycles, it’s expensive.

Let’s just get it out of the way first. The bike’s MSRP comes to $29,799 (~R418k). That is an expensive bike no matter which way you look at it. Do the specs justify the price? Read on to decide.

The all-electric LiveWire will apparently hit 60 from a stop in 3.5 seconds. There is no clutch and no gear shifting, which will definitely make riding an extremely different experience. And riders will be able to slow down using the power regeneration mode in addition to the brakes.

The frame is made from lightweight cast aluminum, which probably helps offset the weight of the battery. There’s fully adjustable front and rear suspension and a touchscreen display.

Because the powertrain sits low in the bike, it should be able to handle well and be easier to balance while stopped. Additional features include ABS and traction control, both of which are fully electronic.

Then we get to the range. Harley estimates 110 miles of urban roads on a single charge, which... isn’t great. And you can expect that mileage only to drop on the highway, as motorcycles aren’t the most aerodynamic.

One of the advantages of motorcycle ownership is their superior mileage over cars. You’re supposed to be able to fill up less frequently and go further. This bike is less than a Honda Rebel, which gets an estimated 200 miles between fill-ups. It won’t be a matter of simply popping over to gas station, either.

Harley says that the LiveWire can be charged at “any compatible charging station” and times are as follows:

Level 1 (standard household outlet): 13 miles range per hour of charge.
Level 2: LiveWire can be connected to a Level 2 charge unit but will be charged at the Level 1 rate.
Level 3 (DC Fast Charge): 192 miles range per hour charged.

Harley might be doing a Tesla thing, in that it releases the expensive, flashy EV first and then follows it up with the smaller, cheaper offerings. At least, I hope this is the business plan. I don’t think this bike is bad-looking and I want to see more electrified bikes.

The LiveWire will be available starting August 2019.

The price is stupid and the range is too low.

But it’s a start and the beginning of mainstream electric bikes from known brands.

Their enduro concept looks far more interesting.

What's the price for a "normal" harley that would compete with this?

Their die hard fans have the bucks to support this, but is this too far from what the die hards want?
Newer buyers would be interested, but this is stupid money for newer buyers.

Harley find themselves between a rock and a hard place.

I thought the whole point of a harley was the noise. Does this have loudspeakers?

There’s an upgrade pack.

About half the price.

Even the cheapest ones would compete with this as they would win out in mostly every category short of initial acceleration.

Took the NC in for an annual service yesterday (2nd one since I've owned it).
Fork seals leaking apparently... R4777 total quote.

yikes, my ER6 is on 23k km and as far as i remember valve check service is at 25k. i do my services myself but not sure if this is a difficult one. same with fork seals, last i read with the offroad that its a cumbersome thing to do so rather pay a mechanic to do it.

On a more positive note, a friend of mine is fixing my footpeg and mirror which broke when the bike fell. so i should be able to ride soon.

Jirre they know how to rip you at Honda.

My BMW had it's fork oil replaced last service (not much less/more to the process than fork seals I believe) and the entire service done for a whopping R2000.

This isn't at Honda, this is at Randburg Motorcycles.

Anybody have knowledge of Quadsuresa for insurance?

http://www.quadsuresa.co.za/

They are quoting me R827 for my 2 bikes compared to Outsurance R2 241. Most of this is for my Duke and I just had to get quick insurance so only shopping around now. I'm not too bothered about excesses etc

Did you manage to find out anymore about this?

Have you tried Bikers Warehouse?
Bit far away. RM is a R40 uber ride away from home, so quite convenient.
I am going to challenge them on the pricing of their parts though. R1700 exc vat for the fork work. And a separate labour charge (3.5h) ...

Makes sense. Seems steep man

How many hours labour is a normal service? (oil + filters)? Would the 3.5 include the forks?

Hey guys, I usually take my Triumph to Mike Hopkins but they have moved from Cape Town to Tiger Valley and really want to avoid having to mission up there. Does anyone have a recommendation of a service center who would be able to service a Triumph in Southern Suburbs?
