I tried to reason nicely with him once, he's just "one of those" types. I'm past it, and not worth it really. I just mind my own business and keep my eyes open. life's just not worth the aggro.

be safe boys.

Fire it up got my pin lock in for me, Yay.
While I was there I decided it was time for a new jacket, picked up a nexo. So warm this morning!

urg nothing worse than regret after being so happy with something new to you :(

No worries, the best lessons often cost a bit of money.

Good attitude there at least.

You often learn the lesson even brand new like I did with my Triumph.

The lesson I would have taken from this experience is to either have bought an extended warranty when doing a private sale, or to have paid a little more and bought from a dealer where it’s covered for six months.

How reliable are Triumphs these days or did you have a dud?

I would reckon the bike was quite reliable and the dealership/mechanic was at fault for ignoring a bigger issue as a smaller one even though I insisted repeatedly something was very wrong.

By the time I absolutely insisted and they cared to take a proper look they actually couldn’t believe it had ridden into the workshop.

So it cost R100k odd in parts and more in labour for their cost and I ended up paying about R5000 which wouldn’t have been necessary if someone just actually took the daily rider and owner of the bike seriously 3000km earlier.

If the issue had been looked at properly the first time and parts were more readily available I reckon the entire thing could have been avoided.

Whether it’s Triumph mandated or just lazy dealership they don’t seem to want to do warranty work, unlike BMW who don’t ask any question and based on simple customer commentary (not even a real complaint) things just get swopped out.

Should've gone to the DMD sale the other day. Got 2 jackets, some pants, gloves - summer and winter - paid less than R2k. :)

Nice!
I was expecting to drop 3-4k on a jacket, so the 2k I paid didn't hurt too much.

Totally. My next bike's going to fresh out the box I've decided, come hell or high water.

And thanks for the recommendation, they were very helpful and professional.

Oh you chatted to Donford then I take it? It looks like their font on the parts list but figured maybe independant mechanic sourced from them and just forwarded to you.

Their labour is also "capped" as they get a mandate from BMW as to exactly how long a job should take and then they can't bill beyond that. So whatever you end up quoting you will be the final word.
