How can they be suddenly offering uncapped wireless at 300k/sec and bells and whistles for R500?
They have direct access to SAT 3, and an apparently extensive fibre network.
They can put as much backhaul to each tower as they deem necessary.
Keep hope - we'll soon know for sure!

I hope that the pricing with all the bells and whistles goes to show how Telscum has been raping this country during its monopolistic reign.
I also think that they can offer these kind of products because of the VSNL backing.
I hope it goes to show more so that bandwidth on SAT3 is no where as expensive as Telscum has made it out to be.
Telecomms like milk, should be making its money in volume.
And thats hopefully the road that Neotel is taking.
Seacom has already mentioned that once they land prices will be mega cheaper, because they're looking at maximising usage for capital gain, rather than exploiting high prices.

VC, MTN, Cell-c do NOT use CDMA for anything, we use the system more widely used in Europe, namely GSM and its derivatives...

It's certainly baffling that NeoTel haven't made more of a fuss about all this. I mean what they're actually saying is that they have a possible answer to all the gripes and complaints that SAfricans have internetwise.
If they deliver I'll be the happiest person
We asked them some fairly technical questions about their speeds both locally and internationally and whether it's really uncapped. I reckon either they're being truthful or some people are going to get fired at Neotel.

I reckon either they're being truthful or some people are going to get fired at Neotel.
That is what I just don't get. This offer is 100x better than Telkom and yet they are keeping quiet about it. Unless it is tied to some evil 10 year contract with payments escalating every month, it doesn't make sense not to make a big fuss about it...

Well, why advertise something you can't offer yet? I suspect that the day they go fully live, the media guys are going to start working overtime. They might also be careful to not overload their system on day one, increasing load steadily so that any problems can have a minimal effect.

I don't think they are going to go for a big bang approach. And the last thing they want is for the call centre to be flooded by callers they are unable to offer a service to ie callers from areas outside of Jhb/CT. My guess is that that will first start offering services to callers/emailers on their database. If you are in those regions I suggest you drop them a line to get onto their list.
The phased in approach will work better in the long run and allow them to test their system's capabilities as more and more users are added.
