New Rain uncapped 4G package launched

I say we keep the pitch forks on hold, let them do their thing and optimize the network. Offering uncapped 24/7 is going to impact the network and limiting streaming is something I'm okay with if they leave it at an acceptable speed.

It would be cool if they had a bolt-on to get full speed during off-peak hours like the R250 option.

Worst case R429 + R250 = R679.
I don't think it is a bad deal for those with no fiber.

South Africans are the most ungrateful people I know. Rain can literally give this away for free and people will complain about speed and the fact that its 360p streaming....

You guys do realize with the spectrum Rain has no other network in EU or NA offers a similarly priced deal at all.

Well I have said many times my price point is around R300. For R479 I kind of expect it to be 20Mbps but still won't be affordable for most. But let's see where this is heading. Fibre ISPs are currently raising prices in a cash grab before 5G becomes ubiquitous but somewhere there has to be competition. South Africa is the only country I know where prices are so tightly similar. And Rain has rather a lot of 4G spectrum. More than the other operators or they won't be able to offer these services to begin with.

I'll update you guys once it happens on my end - seems that the new info is you can migrate but one needs to call in or even ask via live chat. I'm willing to try it out and then i'll comment and give feedback. I am just concerned that its an answered prayer but one clothed in an attire that I did not expect but i'll try reserve judgement till I have my own experience with it. Should it work as planned then I'll cancel all other packages and rely on the one alone and maybe upgrade to 5g standard once it hits my area

Personally I doubt rain even knows just how good they have it and the fact that they are sitting on a gold mine that can give them so much exposure and clients right now in the crisis the world is facing. It was valued more than telkom the other day (although this was due to telkom dropping in value.) With the whole working from home stance people have Rain is so well positioned to make a killing and emerge as the to go provider for internet provided one has coverage.

I am sure RAIN knows what they can achieve, but they have contractual obligations and if they are taken to court for not delivering then thats another story.

Thanks called them and they'll migrate me to the new plan.. It'll take up to 48h. I did it on a sim with the R250 plan so I don't pay double or extra and on 1 April I'll just get billed pro rata. Can always cancel at the end of next month if it's not working out.

So you have the rest of the month on the 24/7 uncapped deal, without paying a cent more ?

So will this put you a different profile that fixes this or will congestion on tower i'm connected to persist?
Also why rain has no contact/support emails.
So could I just upgrade? If still same as Off Peak package can I revert back?

Ordered the 10 meg service yesterday, Wonder why Rain dont bill people prorata ,paid the full price , and still going to take a few days for the sim. and why streaming locked at 360p. they should just lock you at 10meg

It pro rata, its credit the full amount to the account.

So next month bill will be slightly less.

No it won't improve that try putting your router in another band or cancel the service.
