WTF is going on and how do we fix this s**t are probably what CellC are wondering. I bet they are still scratching their heads in confusion, thus their reason for not updating that "Sticky".

Reading that "Sticky" is like watching a re-run of a popular 80's drama series. I'd prefer watching the re-runs to be honest.

CellC are ignoring us. I feel sorry for the resident rep - must be frustrating for him.

was seriously considering their R189 data deal!!

this just selaed it!!

would rather pay the extra cost, and deal with the big red devil and have connection, then pay cheap and have nothing!!

thanx for the constant info guys!! good luck

While Cell C keeps us in the dark, news on Cell C's network issues have spread like wildfire. Everywhere i go, people are very much aware of whats going on at Cell C.

Word of mouth can be a very informative tool sometimes.

Cell C, you have become very popular, but sadly for all the wrong reasons.

If this zero throughput problem is as extensive and widespread as this thread seems to suggest, is it not time that those affected Cell C subscribers lay an official complaint with ICASA ?

(I should add that i am also a Cell C data user and have experienced no problems with my connectivity)

The same individuals keep complaining over and over. It looks like they want to achieve something else than improving their service.

I suggest u also read "List of areas with data issue". That might indicate to u the extent of this problem. Its clearly widespread. This thread in no way distorts the truth as you may have initially believed. Its the cold hard facts.

U suggested Icasa. Well thats looking more and more inevitable now.

I am really happy u have a working network. Thats what most of us want, a working network that we paid for.

Remember, u can still use this thread if your working network automatically switches off one day. I'm telling you this because all of us complaining, suffered that same unfortunate fate.

As I said before, the problem with the "list of areas with CellC data issues" thread is:
I have seen several posts from people saying the problem has been fixed in their area, but I don't see a single area marked fixed in that list.
I think anybody who is having any kind of issue with Cell-C (poor signal, out of airtime, broken device) has now jumped on the bandwagon thinking they are affected by the same problem.

I have had 2x 2gb Whoosh sims for 2 years and have only had good things to say about Cell C. But since last month, both are horrible slow must of the time. I just did a speedtest and got 70kb upload and 25kb download. I am in a full signal area with a wifi router up high to maintain HSPA signal but the speed is non existant. I have had enough and when both sims expire in May I will not buy them again. Going to buy an 8ta sim today and see how that performs.

I think it is shocking that a problem like this could continue for so long without clarity from Cell C and the fact that we have all paid for dial up speeds now looks like fraud on their part. When Lars left, so did the speed. Pathetic!!!

EDIT:

Bought an 8ta sim this morning and loaded a 2gb +1gb night surfer bundle onto it for R149 and this will last 2 months (expires 1 May 2013) and BOY OH BOY what a difference in speed. THIS is what CELL C used to be like before this 6 week old gremlin appeared! I am going to keep testing and if the speed stays consistent, then in May when both my Cell C sims expire, I will buy the 8ta 60GB +60GB night surfer deal for R1800!!

If it were for 2 months, it would expire 1st of June.
Actually it is, bought a new one yesterday.

Sorry - expiry 1 June...

And on that note, this is the first time I have seen a network allow data to be used until the end of the following month. IIRC, when I gave MTN a bash over Christmas, I loaded the data in December and it said it would expire the same day the following month.

+1 for 8ta.....

WEEK - 9.
This situation has gone from ridiculous to beyond ridiculous. Mind boggling really.

Cell C remains " All at Sea " even after Seacoms Ceo issues an Apology Statement.

Cell C, enough of all this drama. Just cut to the chase, will you.

Its like reading a " Ripley's Believe it Or Not Story "
Weird & Bizarre.

I'm changing to 8ta today, have had enough of having a phone with no signal and no data for more than a month. Thanks CellC, wasn't all that great in the end.

Have posted this in a few other threads and submitted a complaint to CellC - but there is absolutely no improvement - strong signal strength (RSSI) but no throughput at all in the evenings. This is in Faerie Glen, Pretoria East.
Strange thing is that it all started at the beginning of February; this strongly suggest that it is not just normal congestion brought about by adding more customers to the network.
My theory is that they are trying to get ready for LTE, and have stolen some of the backhaul from their 3G network for this purpose. Consdering that they are not yet making LTE generally available, PLEASE CellC can we have our network back!? That network that we are paying for, and which used to work well, but which is now nothing but a disaster.

i talked o a Cell-C rep in one of their shops. He said hey received word, about 2 weeks ago that Cell-C is waiting for hardware from China and the problems could be fixed in 5 days or 3 months. pathetic. But it seems like the problem is not that bad in this area (Hatfield Pretoria).

after my last post, went to the 8-ta shop that I found closed, so half out of anger thought would go to the cell C shop, the guys did not know about any issues, and offered me a sim card, free!! so took it and loaded some money, and tried it at home and work!! crap junk rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so looked for a different telkom shop that would hopefully be open, what a pleasure!! and twice the speed of my vodacom!! that decided to drop the prices today!!!!

I think that the courier truck broke down or was hijacked and that is why Cell C cannot deliver a signal to my home.

They invented a new product called RandomReconnect99. It makes you reconnect 99 times a minute!

HSDPA: HorriblySlowDigitalPerAddress

Cell C has no interest in being in business

To be in business, customers need to have a signal. Local Cell C store said I should live with my terrible signal until they can fix it by the end of March 2013. It is April now and the signal is getting worse anywhere in Cape Town City Bowl and adjacent suburbs.

It is downright ridiculous!
