Now for the iHype

Well personally I like the iphone...held it in my hand and played with it a bit by the o2 shop on oxford road in london. But...the £269 up front payment was a bit high and decided to get a lg kf700 instead which was released here last month.

Monthly tarrif is the same except I got hsdpa on my lg and it cost me £12 extra to get a 4gb micro sd chip, with no payment upfront.

So far quite happy with the lg as it also has a big 3" touch screen and I watch my favourite anime/series on it when using the tubes. Also the browser is quite good.

I looked at the N95 and my first thought was...will that fit in my pocket even!?! :S

My gf got the new samsung f490 last week...also a touch screen on the same contract I have atm £35pm with unlimited internet. It's touch screen and plays movies/series just as good as mine if not better!

My point is this....when the iphone was released it had little/no competition...but now the other manufacturers are waking up and actually bringing some decent phones to the market without the high entry fee...so apple got some competition ;)

They will really have to WOW the ppl to increase sales here.

can't you just install iTunes on your Pc and use that? just because there is no iTunes site here don't mean u can't load stuff on the phone.

Sure i can load mp3/4s through itunes isnt that just amazing:rolleyes: I also have a usb flash stick mp3 player that i bought for R80 that can do that

lol, you either love or hate Apple, I like Apple products but do consider their stuff to be crippled for profit and overpriced but I still like the iPhone.

Different strokes...

They were selling here for around R8000 because they were bought in from one of the six countries currently selling the iPhone and then the individuals selling them added on a huge markup.

You can still sell your iPhone or Touch, no need to get all anal about it :D

My iPhone cost R5k. Sold it a while ago to wait for this upgrade. EDGE was far too slow, call quality could have been better and it was lacking a couple of features taken for granted on most phones (sms forward, video camera) but that will all be addressed with future software updates. As far as the user experience goes, I have considerable experience on various handsets from differing makers, and the iPhone was by far the best, but, it may not be everyones cup of tea. If you don't want one, then don't get one. Myself, I can afford it, so I'm going to get one as soon as it hits our shores. Pity about the Vodacom only though, would have liked a choice, but hey, it's only for 2 years. Interesting to see how the SA market reacts to this.

Mocking a mac fanboy is just simple player hating. Never actually met anyone with PC (pronounced Pissee in my world) envy.

There's basically no chance of an iTunes launch here anytime soon, and it is because of the music and movie distributors. It is kind of logical.

Lol thats exactly what apple does!! Redefine the meaning of logical! How can it be logical to have hardware designed around software(to bring in billions for apple) than make the hardware available to a market without the software thus rendering the hardware useless!!

tehehe thats your iLOGIC for you

Does it make sense that a movie is available on the internet in one country but not the next? if the internet is not located in ANY country? and is a global tool? Why make it available on the internet at all? Why not than just on a LAN or WAN even MAN(lol) if you want it local?

All the fanboys are gonna try and flame me now but geeez i dont even wanna hear it, Steve is a ball-lover sorry guyz

Guess u should just wait for microsoft to make a phone then.:)

Bull****... plain and simple...

You just hating. I have an iphone and it is the best phone out at the moment....

Stop hating cause you don't have enough money to buy one.

When the Nokia N95 came out it was priced at R7999. My iphone on launch date cost me R5000. Guess what is the better phone....

Now go figure.

I DID just buy a new phone... out of contract... for R5K... and guess what... it wasn't an iPhone. Like I said I might take one if they are giving them away free. Other than that, I can't really see the point.

Jeez, you really seem defensive about this, are you upset you laid out so much cash for it? Don't take it out on me... go speak to your bank manager.

I have seen iphones on sale for between 5K and 9K... average seems to be around 6K... so sue me for a thousand bucks. :p

Sue my bank manager? Nigga please....

R5000 for a phone that can do everything I need to and more plus having a whole community of software developers and hackers behind it is all I need. You probably love the TV adverts where they say sms and get this for your phone for R10 whilst all I do is tap on installer and whola.... everything I can ever wish for in a phone FOR FREE... I can use it as an Ipod, watch movies, email etc etc etc and still you wanna complain about the price...

"giving them away free" = Exactly the answer ppl give when they know nothing about the iphone and get stuck on the price issue.

No - it doesnt but you'd be foolish to blame Apple for that. Amazon does the exact same thing - why - because just like the DVD zones the studios and labels make them do it.

Typical crappy journo ploy. The title is inflammatory in order to get people to read their content-free article.

Here's a good one... :D
Just how will Apple meet expectations? Using the patent application as a guide, Apple appears to be making room on the iPhone for flash memory, which means an end to Apple's standoff with Adobe (ADBE) that's kept iPhones from easily viewing a plethora of Internet videos.

Apple has said that Adobe's flash media player, which is on hundreds of other phones, doesn't perform up to Apple's standards for the iPhone.

Flash Memory = Adobe Flash

And this is from CNN !?!!!

This makes no sense to me. I have no idea what you are trying to say. Sorry.
