I signed up for a Crystal Web 40mb account for November (thought I'd give it a try and see how fast 40mb is)

On your website it says this is R1299 - but I got an invoice now for R1399 ? Is it R1299 or R1399 ?

Ah, that one is down to human error. Normal price is R1399 but early birds get a discount.

Always PM me this sort of info though, as it's of a personal nature to your account and is far quicker as you can immediately send me personal info that you otherwise can't post in the public domain.

CW, the new Billing Hub is great - is there any indication when the usage stats would be included in the portal?

End of this month the actual Crystal Web portal goes live, with nearly every awesome feature we've wanted to cram in there for you guys.

So CW I might be moving to a new complex that does not have anything telkom close to them. You guys gonna start something wisp? That would be cool. :D

Well that's not acceptable. Apologies about this. We're receiving so many PMs per day - can you PM me now and I'll sort it out for you today?

I called and spoke to Crystalweb a few minutes ago with an unusual request and I am happy to say they have proved once again they are always willing to go the extra mile for their customers. Totally made up for the support error.

Thank you Crystal Web!

I just submitted my CW 10Mbit application. Hopefully the grass will be greener around these parts. According to the CW live chat facility, shaping kicks in at 200GB usage on the 10Mbit account. That seems like a pretty low number to me. 400GB would be more reasonable imo. The chat guy also said that although CW doesn't currently exclude downloads between midnight and 7am from the shaping allowance, efforts are being made to do so. I hope this happens sooner rather than later.

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised when the new site launches with all of our products and services. What you guys have seen so far is just a teaser :)

Remember it's shaping, not throttling, and shaping only on large downloads - nothing else - and that shaping releases every day at midnight. Other ISPs shape from the get-go and from rolling window policies and all sorts of complicated nonsense. We give you an unshaped experience and only shape after hundreds of gigs.

Happy to have you on board though, Bryn26. :)

Will the exchange data be in the portal? :D

As in live exchange monitoring or stats of your DSL line? The latter, yes. The former - in the plans. Telkom upgraded their exchange systems recently which allows us to utilise static IPs on the exchanges which makes this process much easier.

Been with CW from the start and never really used the internet during the day, even though they give unshaped data.

Had to use it the first time this week for two days straight, and like everything Crystal, it performed seamlessly.

Which ever one you were trialling with us at the beginning, as you where trying to consolidate/translate the data into something usable.

Awesome feedback, thanks F1 Fan.

That's the longer term plan - focus is on the launch and all of the incredible new products and services we're releasing.

Ran a pingtest for you from the JHB test line on an uncapped account:

Just adding my small review here - will possibly be overlooked.

BUT WOW

Crystal Web really have blown me out of the water here. Never had such awesome performance on an account before. the shaping structure is really setup in such a way that i barely notice it, which is what internet is supposed to be.

on 4Mbps account currently, and was able to stream youtube 1080p, twich on high, without a wiff of buffering.
any other ADSL account previously (except maybe the odd capped account), was either good for downloading, but crappy for any streaming related activities, or even just went down the drain after a month or two.

hopefully MyADSL gives you a review soon, as i believe that the other ISP's have something to worry about ;)

Keep it up guys!

I have to agree. I was #11 and then I changed speed and became #299. B!tched once or twice which was sorted out faster than what I could b!tch. Now I'm b!tching because there's nothing to bi!tch about! :(
