Thanks to CW support for sorting out my issues. :) All is good again.
 
Anyone else with slow NNTP service (via private paid newserver) at this time of the evening (and with remaining 1st Tier data)?
 
i have been getting a max of 100kB/s for the past week and a half on my p2p downloads using the temp account assigned to me while the shaper problem is sorted out.
Can not wait till the 1st to get catch up on the backlog....
 
How does the p2p shaping work?

I have a 4mb uncapped with CW, just took it the other day, i dont download alot, but would like to know if i will be shaped to death when i do download torrents...just the odd movie every now and again...

I use my account mostly for streaming and it works brilliantly so far
 
The way shaping seems to work currently:

Unshaped bandwidth (tier 1) - do whatever you want
Shaped (tier 2) - good luck getting anything out of P2P unless it's after 12 (effectively p2p is dead except during unshaped hours)

At least that's how it's been for me, and support confirmed that the account was shaped:

Please not that you have used up all of your free 200GB unshaped bandwidth allocation for the month and you are now being shaped. We shaped large downloads during the day but this opens up dynamically according to the network load but is fully unshaped from 12am to 7am.

Anyone else's torrent trackers timing out?

Like I get shaping, but not resolving trackers? That's a little steep

Or is it just me?

When I went to sleep at about 12.30 last night I had a 350 meg torrent going at about 50k. It did finish but I'm not sure if speeds picked up.

Checking P2P speeds now and again it's the same story as the whole of yesterday. Basically 0 download speed. Again, I have no issue with this if this is how it's supposed to work, but CW needs to say "Once you hit tier 2, bittorrent protocols will ONLY work between 12 am and 6 am". Coz honestly, if that's the case, I'd rather get a capped account for the same price as what I'm paying now.

Also this is the backup account I was given after my original account just stopped working entirely, and I have no idea if I'd finished my unshaped bandwidth on my original account (stopped getting usage emails a while ago).

If you guys want to shape P2P hard then I'm ok with that, just tell people that tier 2 means no access on P2P protocols between certain hours. For me shaped = reduced downloads, not no downloads.

I had the exact same issue, and support told me "This is working as it should." Basically, if you are tier 2 shaped, there is ZERO, as in NO TORRENTS, until 12am.

12:40 AM and getting 25-100k download speed on an a 10 meg account that is now in the shaped category.

Same thing happening to me as well.
Also 10meg account witch i upgraded to, to try and increase download speed.

Hey,

I literally posted that and went to bed. The good news is clearly speeds did pick up during the night. I had about 2.2 gigs of torrents queued up to test and they're finished now. I guess that the shaper is just super aggressive this month. I wish I could tell how fast it actually gets but I don't have the tools to record bandwidth use over time.

The best one I have used is freeware called Networx from softperfect. It can also ignore lan traffic stats, so that it only records "internet" data

So, should i wait until you update your website, we going to be going with an ISP within the week - also is your fusion uncapped still available as it doesnt seem to be on ur site

Fusion uncapped is now the standard package, so your first 100 to 400gigs (depending on package/line speed etc).
Why not sign up now, I'm sure you won't be missing anything by waiting for the launch. Any new additions will surely be passed on to existing customers.

Make the change you will be pleasantly surprised at how well CW uncapped performs!

I can assure you that any new benefits and value adds (and they're coming) will be passed on to new subscribers.

Note that we don't do true pro-rata just yet, so we apply a 50% discount to all signups after the 18th of the month, but we also let you schedule the account to be created on any date you wish, to ensure that you get full value from the account.

Fusion became our standard product, but more products will be released very soon. Some exciting things are happening.
