If I want to cancel my Crystalweb account, do I need a months notice?

as demonstrated in this thread an answer often comes quicker through live chat ;)

Cancellations must be done before the 19th as per the Customer Relationship Agreement
no weird and wonderful hoops and notice periods just a reasonable requirement on our part to get planning for the next month done and to process collecting money (between SARS and SARB they wont allow us to receive payment in beer)

Not bad for international pings and speeds. Line running 100% better than with my previous ISP.

Must say the only thing I'm not enjoying right now is torrents being shaped on a capped account.

What is considered as peak period? Tested a torrent at around 7:30PM and was only getting speeds around 250KB/s on a 10Mbps account.

I completely understand shaping during business hours but 7:30PM surely not.

Streaming still taking full priority then.

You will likely find that your p2p downloads will only run full speed from midnight unfortunately.

Their answer is that they shape according to demand - so anytime of the day - if there is a high demand anywhere - then NNTP and Torrrents are varked. Graveyard data is supposed to be unshaped but guess what...

I did have a chat with support a few days ago about this, (I'm on Premium Uncapped) But a friend is on Home Capped, And experienced shaping on it.

They said that all ISPs are currently waiting for the new Telkom IPC to be allocated, and there should be little to no shaping once the upgrades happen soon.

/Holds Thumbs

If un-shaping of torrents only takes place at 12 then Web Africa with the exact same cap offering on the same IS network is better value for money.

AFAIK, Crystal web have stated that they run on the exact same profiles as Webafrica, Due to the profiles being the same with Internet solutions whom provide both WA and CW with bandwidth.

CW is R4 cheaper too iirc

Uncapped basic is useless. Now I am told I cannot upgrade back to the premium package where i came from. (Month notice needed..)
I use to be with CW since the R279pm uncapped accounts.
After numerous opened calls, basic troubleshooting that I have already done and empty promises - I am getting tired of this as I am paying for a service I am not receiving.

So I reverted back to my premium uncapped option as the home uncapped was utter shhh!t. Funny how all the support guys tried to pin it on my exchange.

But oh well, guess R349pm is where i'll be staying for now until a better value for money option becomes available for me as I use up to about a 100GB on a busy month. Don't want to go back to the "oh no, have to keep an eye on my cap" days.

Were you on the Home uncapped basic?

I was with CW from the beginning when they only had one 2meg account for R279pm.
Then the pricing changed to R349pm, I assume this was when the Premium/Home Basic model appeared.
I was 100% happy.
Then I decided, ok I'm not too heavy on the data as I was back in my "download the internet" phase (and was doing some spend pruning), so I decided to downgrade to the Home Basic account as it is cheaper (R195) and advertised to be a respectable product with some limitations which I was willing to accept.
This is where the trouble started, as soon as I got converted I started experiencing unusable performance (web pages did not even load, but speedtest.net results were 100% hmmmm...).
Long story short (with my own troubleshooting and CW support woes - and yes, my Afrihost 1GB account worked great at this time so don't blame telscum), a week later I am back on the Premium package and everything works like it used to (and hey bonus, web pages actually load now).
CW have lost their credibility in my eyes, up until this incident I thought they were excellent but now I'm a bit uneasy as the cost is a bit on the steep side for what I use month to month.

right, signed up ..... how long about is the first email then, I'm keen for that low ping gaming :D
