Your line will need to be moved from Afrihost back to Telkom, Once that has completed we will be able to Submit the Migrate request to Telkom in order to migrate the line from Telkom to Crystal Web's Management.

Home premium is way better for Streaming and Gaming and the like. Home basic is for an entry level internet user.
My line will be moved back to telkom on Monday as they require a month notice to move it, will you guys automatically move it to you as I signed up for the bundle? Hiw long does it usually take?

Kinda feeling guilty that Durbs is getting more capacity. Honestly I havent felt the shaper since the move to IS :D

Well the network is currently completely unshaped in Durban and we are nowhere near peak, So get any big downloads out the way now :D

Hop onto chat with us on Monday, We'll be able to confirm with you whether your line will be feasible for Migration yet from telkom.

The process generally takes between 48 hours - 2 weeks if feasible.

We did upgrade our IPC further on Friday at 11am however between 5pm and 9pm, It seems there was a fault with the provisioning of this extra capacity. The issue was resolved at around 9:10pm on Friday evening.

Everybody in JHB and Durban is currently Unshaped at the moment and should have stellar performance.

Much better Youtube performance this morning, streams default to 480p & 1080p runs smoothly, thanks!

a brief update:
there has been an upgrade in Jhb with the patron saint of technologists making an appearance
although the team at IS have been stellar in putting in a fix so lets hope Murphy doesn't strike twice in a row.

There are a few end of month (and beginning of new month) rollouts coming

Durban is in need of some Capetownians and we are praying that things remain on track for Cape Town (especially as Jbay is affected as well)

Thank you for the update Paul.

Looking forward to it...streaming down South has been less than stellar the last week or so. Thankfully latency has remained nice and low :D

Here in Cape Town, along the West Coast, I'm still having issues with my Youtube streaming through the PS3.

Quality constsntly fluctuates between 1080p and what looks like 144p. Already had tech take a look but the issue persists.

Crystal Web people, moving to Telkom FTTH at the end of next month (100Mbs ayyyylmao); No info on products on the website but I (think?) left a ticket. Anyone here using CW for FTTH? Looking at either WA or Vox right now but their (lack of) support isn't great.

We will be offering services on Telkom's FTTH offering. The announcement on exact products will come as soon as we have exact calculations done. In general though Telkom's FTTH has the advantage of being as open access as their DSL approach, the disadvantage is that it is geared in a DSL-on-steriods model which has cost implications.

wanna let me be the guinea pig? moving to Fibre this coming month.

we love volunteers to guinea pig so yes
the mildly put disclaimer about Telkom FTTH though is that it doesn't promise to be epic speeds for cheap - especially not on the uncapped front
likely to find value product offerings that have a softcap at which point throttling to 4 or 10 Mbps

- in fact this is an example of where throttling is a legitimate demand side management approach ...

Capped would work better for me than Uncapped and if you guys can match WA's offering or even better, beat it I'd be more inclined to use you guys as I know you got gucci support.

Looking at WA's offer it's R849/pm for the line with R1749 once off for the install and I can choose whatever ISP I want for data which is ideal for me. In terms of data though I'm looking at about 200GB/pm of peak usage (6am-midnight) and quite a bit more during the dead hours.

Let me know as I want to get this ball rolling soon.

Our standard uncapped accounts offer free tier 1 data (highest priority on all protocols on the network) for up to 400GB per month depending on line speed (minimum 100GB). Only thereafter do shaping policies apply, where we shape large downloads and release the shaping after midnight. Gaming, streaming, browsing etc remain unaffected by any shaping

Now that you've got some spare capacity in some regions with the IPC upgrades, do you have any plans to provide products that work as per the description from post 1 of this thread? Even if it is a capped version of that or with a lower threshold before shaping?

Based on previous discussions, that first fully unshaped portion hasn't been included in your product offerings for quite some time. The closest current alternative seems to be using a business premium capped account until cap is reached, but on a daily basis manually switching to a home (un)capped account outside of business hours, and manually switching back as soon as business hours start again.

A standalone product like that would be the ideal type of account for those of us who are fine with scheduling stuff for after hours, but who still want to be able to use the line at full speed when needed the rest of the time.
