It is your rep that brought up the usage. If you reread the customer's post he was referring to services not performing as expected. No mention of usage.

who really gives a **** how he said it. If the usage stats are within norm yet a customer is btching. Stephan is clearly just stating the facts based on system stats... lots of trolls on the internet these days you know.

except that in his immediate next post he quoted a set of figures that are in-congruent with usage data

lol

a friend of mine who is a photographer and used to own a photography prints shop always said "the customer is never right, they actually have no clue what they want"
I take a different view
The customer is always the most important part of the endeavor but they can only be right if they are informed properly.

If you are in Cape Town (or civilization - the Cape area outside of Cape Town) then we (indirectly) have our trusty colleagues at Telkom getting that in place. Official ETA is 2 weeks but the news is good so sooner rather than later.
If you aren't in Cape Town please hop onto live chat.

Something is odd though regardless - I believe there is an open ticket
However even in Cape

Paul, a question.

"Premium Business Capped is the highest priority on the network, and is unshaped on all protocols. No services are affected by shaping or contention, and business capped customers obtain priority access to the network over all other customers up to the cap you select."

The wording reads to me that if you're a Premium Business Capped user with, say, a 50GB cap on a 10Mb line, that another customer with the same capped account with a 100GB account on a 4Mb line takes priority over yours, even though the only thing the other customer has over you is paying for more data? Would a Premium Business Capped customer on a 40Mb line with a 500GB cap be weighted the same on your network as another user with the uncapped version of the account on a 40Mb line that only consumes slightly less than 500GB in a month?

Where is that post? I can't see it.

Paul we can spar all night. I will not move from my stance and you will not move from yours. Let's agree to disagree.

From what I'm seeing on my systems, You definitely got your moneys worth and way more last month, and you seem to be doing so far this month as well too.

I'm a capped customer, I used what I pay for and not a gig more. I also hardly dig into the "free midnight data" and don't consider myself a heavy downloader.

I like my account to perform in the evenings as it should, and of late, it's been poor.

Your comment is uncalled for.

the network priority levels are the same
although if contention is a factor (in other words if all traffic is in the top priority class and is hitting the limits) the lower line speed will stay at line speed for longer

however in reality it is other factors rather than which size cap and line speed you are on - quality of the last mile, your exchange

I'll soon be looking for a new ISP...

Which product are you using and what was your approximate data usage last month?

Capped 120gb.

The lol's of CW Stephan's comment will echo in this thread for eternity.

Mpumalanga

Stephan, sent you a PM with my username.

Ah right - name looked familiar - one of the Mpumalanga people

I am not so secretly hoping the answer involves an elephant or something from the Kruger Park that is sitting on a cable.

I've used 4.71gb on a 20mbps VDSL line today.

Is that some kind of internet download record ?

I sincerely hope that level of capped account abuse didn't contribute towards overall Cape / EC contention ratios and general performance this evening.

However, netflix has now improved and I will return to watching Helix.

This right here is the exact reason that DJ didn't wanna hand over an official CW rep account to just anyone.

why? The claim is being made with regard to not obtaining value in the account. No indication other than that our records indicate that there is proper usage coming through the account. If the customer is genuinely experiencing slow speeds but is having high usage then something is up and needs to be looked at.

Paul.

There is a capacity problem during times of peak demand at present for us poor sods in the cape and surrounding caves.

This is affecting http downloads and streaming services, especially in the evenings.

CW is not performing at the levels (of usually excellent) real time service I have come to expect from my capped account.

If I am not allowed to express that view here on the forum, then you're in the wrong business.

I trust upgrades are in the works that will rectify the situation within a reasonable time frame.

There are many ISP's that promise and don't deliver. I'd hate to see CW going down that road.

/value for money home capped user who gets what he pays for and not a cent more.

No Im sorry , but expecting to get massive amounts of data from a +-R500 a month account is unrealistic , an ISP is there to make money , you get what you pay for . Thats the current state of the industry , if you dont like it , bugger all you can do .

All ISP's pay for the same bandwidth and have to allocate it appropriately to ensure everyone gets some , if you are pulling more than your share , move to a capped account where you pay for your exact own usage.

Tired of everyone complaining about FuP etc, THERE ISN'T ENOUGH BANDWIDTH FOR YOU ! We arent first world , expecting first world internet is just setting yourself for disappointment.

Hold your horse there white knight. When you are talking about capped account you surely get your money's worth.

Sadly, I am already on the 120gb capped account.

I used 4.71gb (give or take) today.

*hangs head in shame for using the web the way it was intended and paying for those darn gigs with mafia blood money*
