I'm on a 40mb line - here's some feedback so far

1) Anything needing a low ping is really fast, so that part is working great!
2) speedtest.net - JHB server - close to the full 40mb speed: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3879635032
3) speedtest.net - NewYork server -
4) http://speedof.me/ - 920kb down, 1.53mb up - really slow here, could be that server
5) http://www.att.com/speedtest/ - 15710 kbps down, 2773 kbps up, Latency: 250 ms, Jitter: 1 ms - pretty good!
6) torrents - seems to cap out at 10mb most of the time, sometimes goes up to the full 40mb

In general it's been really great! I think it probably doesn't make sense to buy the 40mb package though as you'd probably get the same speeds most of the time on the 10mb one, right? Anybody with 10mb can confirm?

I contacted support, awaiting feedback..

Anybody else have issues with News not connecting? Login is fine but everything queues, and the ones that downloaded yesterday is broken,

Cheers
Dion

Hi guys. I signed up with crystal web and got the bill. Is it safe to assume I will get the login details once proof of payment is received?

Yeah, worked with me. I sent the proof of payment and then I jumped on the online support to tell them - got my details right away.

ALso getting really slow speedof.me results (see my post above).

I will follow your example kind sir. Thanks

Hi guys

I would assume NNTP is working properly now? ( Maybe retest a NZB that failed to be sure).
Upstream provider probably had some issues, but better to wait for Crystalweb to give an official reply...

I'm still getting this...

I am still waiting for my news server login details. Support told me on Saturday I would have it before 4pm that afternoon...still waiting. I tried changing my username to what people suggested on the forums here but I get incorrect username/password.

I would suggest that you pop on to live chat again.

Sigh, when house hunting and finding the perfect place without Telkom lines, I had to decline. CW make them 5.8Ghz links dammit. :p

News server update:

We can confirm that our news server channel partner experienced a rare and unlikely failure, which was experienced since last week Thursday, and has now been resolved. All of your downloads should begin to fire off correctly again.

All news server access has been created on our side as well, and if you don't yet have your details please ask an agent on live chat and it will be sent through to you.

Mine seems to be up again, download running like a champ! Will see if they complete correctly,

Thanks!!

Good to know - will test :)

One of my previously broken downloads now downloaded 100%

Thanks CW!

CW, any comment on the NNTP (via Tweaknews) running on sub-20Mbps speeds on my 20Mbps account last night? Is this a regular thing, or was there a problem?

We've picked up an issue here. We have a fix for it as well. None of this 6 month waiting nonsense.

Just awaiting a specific ETA from the guys on this one and it will be tested and implemented. Won't be this week as it's quite a task, but will be soon that it goes in. That's the best I can give you at this time. Once I have a clearer picture of the actual ETA I will update you guys.

Right now there are a few minor issues and mostly localised which we need to fix. In other words we are aware of it, know how to fix it, and even have some temp solutions to see you over. They are as follows:

Twitch for some customers: Fix coming in to resolve these issues - happening this month. Until then, pumping the stream into VLC using http://livestreamer.readthedocs.org/en/latest/ with HLS and HDS will resolve it for now.
Slower than expected downloads over http(s): fix coming in this month - until then use a download manager to force the required multi-threading and it should be mostly resolved. Also very localised.
Slower than expected NNTP: our nntp server issues were resolved and it's back up and running properly. Other services experiencing slowish speeds - we know the problem and a fix is being introduced in the next two weeks to resolve - also pretty localised and not having any massive impacts but we do acknowledge the problem; know how to fix it; and are working on doing so now as well.

Downloads over http even with a download manager does not seem to help and max speed varies between 100 - 300Kb/s on a 10mb connection.
