There is a known issue with nntp at the moment, but a fix rolled in last night which should be helping - not 100% resolved just yet. This is currently running on our 10Mbps test line with a premium home uncapped account that 90% of customers including you are on right now:

Seriously - and now I get disconnected from support with no response. :(

AND NOW ALL I GET IS "Thank you! You will hear from us shortly."

Wow.

Seriously - and now I get disconnected from support with no response. :(

Eskom decided we'd used enough power today - back up on generators on the support desk and available.

Before my power dies , crystal web trying to help... hopefully we can get sorted.

My NNTP has also been slow Necuno, fluctuating between 100 - 220kB/s

There's definitely something not right lately as HTTP is also taking a big knock.

I started downloading GearCM latest ROM - file size is just over 200MB.

On my wireless it kept shifting between 6kB/s and 30kB/ bursting to 60kB/s momentarily
Screenshot_2014-11-06-06-21-54.jpg

When I got in my car and switched off my wireless the ROM came down at 230kB/s on my 3G, so it's definitely not the source :(
Screenshot_2014-11-06-06-27-14.jpg

Note: I had no downloads running at this time, all nzb's and torrents were done.

I will test this again when I'm home tonight and take it up with support. I dont mind the NNTP being slowed but almost no throughput on HTTP is not on.

I tried to do a download of a 100mb file via TestMy.net last night and got a whopping 0.6Mb on a 20Mb line.

hmmm

My guess the london node is ****ed and or the shaper looking at my path pings... even multi threaded (10) http connection is slow.

What I find confusing is that speedtest.net is amazingly fast while other areas is not. Now the question is of course what did change since last month:

1. "new accounts"?
2. more costumers?
3. new rulesets?
4. load shedding?

...I wait on CW for more expert feedback :)

Speedtest.net uses TCP packets as opposed to HTTP (where there is currently a problem). Not sure what the issue with NNTP is though.

Are you on 10MB?

Mine was crap the entire night, sitting at 600Kb now which seems like 3x what I've been getting. (nntp)

EDIT: Now at 920

Normally I am on a chair, but my package is 10mbs fusion.

I am on 10m but the capped 200gb account. Getting 420KB/s. When will the customer portal be available - I need to check my usage :P

That's not correct. TCP is a packet delivery system as is UDP and HTTP is a protocol for information transferred in these packets. What speedtest does do is test the speeds of protocols like HTTP on the ports they're commonly assigned to, like port 80. Speed tests done for other protocols need to be done manually by the users because I don't know of any test site that looks at things like NNTP.
