Sorry support, it appears you did send a reply but I never got it - got your reply now. NNTP speed has increased again to around 4m speeds now, still a far cry from 10m speeds. I hope you can sort this out quickly.

During the day there is nothing wrong. I am getting between 280KB/s and 400KB/s on my 4Mbps line, but between 12am and 6am it hovers between 28KB/s and 48KB/s. This is a recent NNTP item that was posted to usenet on 02 January 2015. It took more than 10hrs (Only between 12 and 6 am) to download 8GB.

With my Web Africa capped account it goes pedal to the metal on the WA news server @ 420KB/s. It looks like NNTP traffic is shaped from the NNTP provider and the ISP, CW??

After an awesome December it looks like we back to the poor single threaded HTTP download speed.
At current speed its gonna take 2hrs for a 220MB file :(

I really thought this was fixed already...

@CW is HTTP still an issue and if so when will it be fixed proper like?

PS: Everything else is running superbly

Edit: Make that 4 hours, getting 20KB/s....

I speak u der correction, but I think they said it was fixed for Cape Town, but not if you route via Gates.

I route via Cape Town and it seems that single threaded httpdownloads for me is booked.

Also had occasional instances of packet loss during December, but now it is there most of the time.

Not sure how CW routes Durban traffic but single threaded HTTP is definetly f'd here.

Kicked off a second HTTP download and combined the 2 are jumping between 10 and 60KB/s.

I'm gonna hop onto support to see if they have an update for me.

No feedback to give really, General says he's gonna send off the screenshot I sent thru and he'll mail me when he has a reply.

Here's the screenshot I sent thru, as you can see its really struggling.

Day 3 of 100kb/s NNTP regardless of server used (paid, free, CW's, etc) on a 4mb line. Browsing is erratic as are NNTP downloads. Speedtest.net however says all is well.

I'm a little concerned that no one from CW has been seen on here for a while now. I would go through the online support guys, but they do not seem to be capable of diagnosing issues (at least in past experiences).

Get an iphone :p

That time of the month for PSN Plus.
Started downloading and it was okayish, but not close to full speed. Speed has dropped to 350 - 500kbps average.

So that is roughly 40 - 70KB/s.

Think I used about 28GB, before this round of downloads, so haven't used up my pool of unshaped bandwidth.

If you check the news sites they are having problems.

Hi guys,

Apologies for the break we had from the forums. We were active for quite some time over December and then had a wee holiday (which imo was well deserved and far too short). :D

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday season, and those still on holiday continue to do so (a safe one too).

WRT network performance: it is still very good - there have been some minor incidents here and there which are expected in normal operation which the team have informed we of which have been reported and (mostly) dealt with.

NNTP slowing down is one I'll continue to monitor on my end as well.

As for the dual-network - still happening, and the plan is still for January launch. It's a massively complex rollout which most of the team have been continuously working on, and we continue to do so. And there are going to be some lovely surprises coming in January as well which I have secured, and once I get the go-ahead from Rudolph we will release more info about.

Hi guys,

Apologies for the break we had from the forums.

Great! Welcome back.

2 questions:
When will credit card payments come online? Kind of been waiting for a good few months now and always get told "this month".
Why are single threaded downloads still slow? Adobe Flash came down at very poor speeds today and a 160mb MP3 that I wanted to grab off Soundcloud was just not happening.

We're finishing off the dev work on the payment system now. Should be no more need for EFTs unless a customer chooses.

HTTP downloads were resolved. I haven't had a proper chance to check this on my end but if it proves something I can replicate I will absolutely be on the case to get the fix back in place. Not sure if the upstream provider switched to an old config, but fortunately we're deploying the dual network now as well, and taking over direct control of all capacity on all networks as well, so very big changes right at the start of 2015 (for the better).

HTTP downloads are def broken, same file in jdownloader pulling line speed
