Any network issues at the moment?
Streaming twit on my roku is buffering like crazy.
RDP is terrible.
Speedtest 1.12Mbps
no packet loss
Will have to remote in and run some tests from there. Looking at the bandwidth it's looking OK, but I do suspect that we made a bit of a boo-boo with one of the changes - I'm going to have to confirm this tonight after a few tests. Will let you know.
Something's not cool internationally. Local connectivity seems fine for the most part.
FYI chatting with support now. Intl speedtests are not good, local ones are. The line drop you saw earlier was me, making a config change on the router
Can't replicate though. Get very different results here, so my suspicion is that there's a routing change happening between your side and Rosebank. Only thing I can think of right now, which makes sense as there is known work taking place on their network.
Can we revisit this tomorrow once we can get some data from your resync?
I'm also thinking a port reset is in order here for you.
Wasn't one line drop - was about 7 from 14:00 today.
Crystal, for your capped packages I'm looking at the 400+free package.
Just some questions about it -
In your terms you have "This capped data service is offered unshaped and contended. Once the network contends, only peer to peer speeds in peak periods may be affected"
The peer to peer, I assume that is normal torrents and NNTP traffic? What about http(s)?
For your uncapped offering has this - "shaping only applies to downloads on HTTP(S), P2P, and NNTP."
[1] - does this mean that HTTP(S) is only for the uncapped one?
If I have the 400GB capped my HTTP(S) will be full speed all day?
[2] - Since these look to be the same as the WebAfrica Home capped packages, what are the difference? Why should I take it with CW instead of WA or take it over a WA Business Capped account (300+1200) for a few bucks more?
Network Notice:
Starting tomorrow (Sunday 05 April 2015) until Thursday next week (09 April 2015) numerous Telkom exchanges will intermittently go offline for maintenance as part of Telkom's major network upgrades. The list is extensive and countrywide, and you may experience loss of DSL sync or decreased throughput for up to 5 hours during this process. Don't be alarmed. There's no need to report a fault if you experience this, unless the service is not restored 24 hours. You should be back up and running in a few hours.
Any profile you can get on WebAfrica, we have access to as well. We use the same profiles, and then we have our own custom profiles setup for various accounts. We both use the IS backbone.
I do believe we offer the best support in the business, if that's a factor in making your mind up?
So, 5th to the 9th has come and past. What changed?
When are you announcing your new packages by the way?
Nothing the end consumer will see, About 40 or so exchange backhauls did get upgraded though for future developments.
If they didn't break anything, then I hope the current shockingly slow speeds are due to the latest iOS release and game pre-loads.
@CW - are you able to monitor network demand at present and comment on that ?
Yes. Never been higher - we've hit records on the bandwidth, which is why downloads are shaped a little heavier at the moment.

Yes. Never been higher - we've hit records on the bandwidth, which is why downloads are shaped a little heavier and longer at the moment.
