Even the odd couple times I've had to finish something outside of the midnight-six window, I've never not had full line speed. I am in KZN though and we have oodles of capacity apparently :p

Will this be the case for CPT when the upgrade is finished? There's really nothing more frustrating than seeing that an NNTP download completed at 4:00am running at an average speed of 900K/sec on a 20mbps line.

I opened my e-mail this morning & this is what I get??

I sent an e-mail at 8am this morning regarding this & since then NO response - I don't mean to be rude but does the one hand know what the other one is doing? :(

This is getting ridiculous.

Rate limiting of a multi-threaded http download. 20meg VDSL forced to run like a 2meg line:

I certainly can't take much more of this.

I canceled last month but got an email that says my payment is overdue.

Yea

Not happening.

PE routes through CT. IPC upstream provider issues.

Unless that is Business capped data, you will just have to wait for the IPC upgrades to take effect. Or cancel of course.

Could you shed a little more light on the technical side of the upgrade. What exactly is being upgraded and why is taking a two weeks to do?

Same happened to me. Was on live chat for almost half an hour. Very unorganised

I'm sure a CW rep will also chip in here to answer.

As I understand it the IPC capacity currently for IS ISPs (both CW and WA for that matter) is constrained in Cape Town.
It is not a matter of accounts being shaped or anything when you try and stream in the evening and get bad throughput - it is purely that the pipe feeding the data at the CT breakout is too small to carry it all.

This pipe is what is being increased currently. This is increase is in part to do with Telkom announcing some benefits to their wholesale clients - spend 15% more and get double your IPC for example.

Now I know the JHB and DBN IPCs have been upgraded and they are generally good to go.

As for why CT is taking longer than the others...no damn idea. I do know that this problem is not unique to CW. It is IS as an upstream provider. I am sure that they have their weight firmly thrown behind the effort of getting the additional cap lit up on time and on schedule.

Paul - how significant of an upgrade is it? Will people routing through CPT see noticeable gains, or is it just enough to cover the current subscriber base with some shaping?

two aspects to the upgrade - [1] immediate capacity which is provisioned to serve current requirements
[2] upgrade of available capacity which can be readily taken

Problems arise when 2 is delayed or unavailable.

Appreciate Paul giving me a call today to try and fix my problems and explaining some stuff.

I'm in Newcastle, KZN and getting 1.12MB/sec on an Origin update.. on 10mb Uncapped Premium. So things are good on this side. Also never had any streaming issues at all since signing up a month ago. 1080p60fps streams fine even at peak time.

Is it normal for there to be zero perceivable difference in download performance (NNTP, Torrent) before and after 5pm?

From what I gathered on the forum 5pm was a magical time of extra bandwidth, but absolutely nothing's changed in a download that's been running since 4:50pm that I can see. Or does this not apply to capped accounts?

Edit: If anything, it's gotten slower

Definitely slower after 5.. more people browsing and streaming etc. Cannot wait for the fix.

Hoping the fix actually fixes things. I was with Afrihost when they went through their IPC issues. Once they eventually got the upgrade after many Telkom delays, hardly anything changed, and then they had more IPC issues. Holding thumbs here.
