Is it normal for there to be zero perceivable difference in download performance (NNTP, Torrent) before and after 5pm?

From what I gathered on the forum 5pm was a magical time of extra bandwidth, but absolutely nothing's changed in a download that's been running since 4:50pm that I can see. Or does this not apply to capped accounts?

Edit: If anything, it's gotten slower

I find that if no matter what your star rating is, local speedtest.net is always line speed but if you try washington or london, there is throttling invloved.

NNTP is local so that is why you getting full speed.

Lately, I've noticed slow nntp at times like after midnight, to a lesser extent after 5pm.

Slower after 5pm speeds would be contention I guess, either in the pool or on the server.

Welp something just broke in the Cape.
60KB/s maximum on everything, twitch completely dead.
 
Am now completely unable to stream YouTube, even on as low as 240p. Let alone Netflix.
Really not impressed :/ Hope it gets fixed soon, because it's specifically this kind of thing that caused me to move away from AH.
 
Having the same issue in Cape Town, everything has slowed to a crawl. even simple page loading is painfully slow across the board, let alone actually streaming anything! Whats happening?

I just wanna know if it's possible to get rid of the usage emails or change the time mine gets sent out.
I'm a light sleeper and everyday 3.45am my phone wakes me :'(
I need my sync on 24/7 more than I need the usage email as I don't monitor my usage anyways.

EDIT: 20min still no reply - must be sleeping :p

wow, managed to download about 10GB overnight, from 00:00 - 06:00, in the "download time"; 10mb/s line; CT - pretty dismal, even considering IPC capacity woes...

anyone else find their after hours performance is atrocious as well? is this definitely due to IPC?
 
I could tell from my logs that there were throughput problems till exactly 01:32.

From then till six I had full speed on my line.

Boys... give it time. The performance issues in CPT should be fixed by next week. FYI I'm also in CPT and I have no issues at the moment.
 
hi CW reps - if I moved my line from Telkom to you guys, would you be able to put pressure on Telkom to upgrade the local DSLAM to support ANYTHING above 4mb?

Nope.

This is all in the hands of the network planners and managers. Been down that road.

What you can do is ask Telkom to check if your area is scheduled for infrastructure upgrades.

been told for the last month that they don't know and patience isn't a virtue of mine.
 
Noticing definite improvement in the performance of my account today. Dare I ask if the IPC upgrade has gone through, or has everyone in CPT switched off their PC's for the weekend?
