I have a hard time believing that. Especially not when starting in a different location. And without the assisted GPS feature (using data to speed up the location finding). No device I've ever used has been that fast...not even a dedicated GPS device.
Most take between 30 seconds to a minute to locate you at a new location (and much worse if you're in an entirely different continent to before XD)
My current phone does have assisted GPS, it has "GLONASS" too, I have no idea how that works tbh, all I know is that when I activate the GPS (meaning I enable it from the Android drop down menu) and load Google Maps it finds my current location instantly by the time Google Maps is loaded, which varies but is usually a couple of seconds. I have no reason to exaggerate about this, I hate this phone (it's a Samsung btw).
The GPS seems good. It did let me down a bit last weekend. I dont know why, but it just would not lock on properly even after restarting the phone. Used it again yesterday and it locked on in a few seconds and worked great.
Thanks for the info! Will definitely not be buying a new phone before the end of this month, so I have sometime to think about it.
