Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

For anyone interested, just rooted my phone using this tool, and it seems to work perfectly.

OR losing out on selling micro sims! >:D

I'm not dropping calls... more than usual... Hmmm.... How long does a sim swop take?
 
I must say mine was actually not so bad, it just seemed a little inconvenient. I got my phone on Saturday, my number only got activated the next day, then I had to go back to the Vodashop to do the sim swap. Still, after doing the swap it only took 2 hours(exactly), and my micro sim was rocking and rolling!

Sometimes there is a bit of a wait if it is a new contract that needs to get activated. Sometimes it is just so busy in the stores that they put approved contracts on the side after giving the client the phone and sim and then activate it either just before closing or early the next day when it is quiet.
 
Soooo....does anyone who has a RAZR also have their contacts recognised in WhatsApp??

My contacts are all google synced, and they worked out of the box with whatsapp :confused:
I assume when browsing your phone book, then number dials when selecting a contact? Trying to figure out if it's a field mapping issue.
 
I don't know what's wrong. They all synced just fine, google, Facebook, everything. Under Whatsapp, nothing...Very strange!
 
Yeah, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it, when I click refresh, it says "updating" and then "your contacts are up to date", but nothing shows up...I've selected use invisible contacts, but still nothing...This is the weirdest error I've ever seen!
 
Lol, I'm trying to think if I might have done something wrong, but really, it's not like you can do anything wrong getting an app from the market...Can you?

Maybe have a look @ how your numbers are stored in your phonebook. Check that they are stored in the +2782 format and also check that they are classified as "mobile". I doubt if this is causing it but worth a shot?
 
Thanks, I will check that now. Also, I'm assuming that Facebook will sync the contacts and store them on the phone, does whatsapp prefer them on the phone or on the Sim Card??
 
Update on Whatsapp:

I managed to get around it for the most part. I reset the phone, and did not set up my Facebook account right away. I took the SD Card from my Desire, which had backed up contacts on it and put it in the Razr. I imported those contacts and they showed up as you would expect. When I installed Whatsapp this time, it recognized those contacts.

It still won't see my Facebook contacts, but I think that's because the Facebook App puts +27 in front of them, and on the Whatsapp help page it says not to do this. So either the Facebook App has changed, or Whatsapp is different this time around.

Anyway, Whatsapp does work now, just not so well with Facebook contacts. This might get fixed in an update of either application I suppose.

I'm now 110% happy with my phone.

Also, Smart Actions is amazing. Since setting up my battery extender, and using it, my phone is on 60% after nearly 13 hours, and this includes some downloading and general messing around with it!
