Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

How does it hold up in everyday life as far as battery, call quality and signal strength goes? I mean when stock standard from the box with no mods. No games, no heavy internet use, just a few emails and calls. Also sometimes a VoIP cal or two per day.

Just got the new jelly bean update OTA. And damn its fast! Much improved over ICS. Battery life is better as well.

just checked OTA... still on 4.0.4...says phone is up to date bla bla bla..
wonder when i'll get it.

@reger8or: quite a decent phone. specs almost identical to the samsung galaxy s2.
with the moto smart actions, the phone lasts me almost 2 full days...
everything else is good. call quality, signal etc.. cant complain hey

Compared to the galaxy s2 you get a better screen, thinner profile, somewhat better bloatware, and a slightly worse camera. Over all its a great phone, but as with all modern phones, battery life is rubbish. I want something that can last a week again :(

4.1.2 or 4.2?

4.1.2.... I connected to my wifi network (don't normally bother doing that) and just go this beautiful message saying an update is available. 4 Hours and 300mb later, it had finished, and 15 minutes later was installed and ready to go. This is on vodacom.

And you're running an MERetail? I thought we were excluded so I moved to the first EU JB the day it came out (Vodafone). Managed to keep root in the process with Voodoo. Seems I am one of the lucky ones in that respect.

Retail.EnEU :D Guess it got the update because when ICS came out I did exactly what you did.

Aaah :D Ok, next question, does your chrome have a built in moto bookmarks folder? They're in the Vodafone release (which is exactly the same version as retail). Its the only annoying thing in this release since chrome likes to default to that folder if its not sitting in memory when I open it. Short of that and the easily disabled bloat, what an excellent update!

Edit: Never mind the bookmark rant. Didn't look hard enough. Disabled the partner bookmarks app..

Are you using the EU version?

No idea, how do I tell? I loaded ICS via an OTA update.

I thought these updates are pushed by the network, why would Vodacom push the EU version to the guy above?

I flashed the EU version to update mine to ICS, so JB shouldn't be a problem. Use at your own risk though :D.

Edit1:

http://theandroidrom.com/update-mot...-bean-firmware-982-124-14-xt910-retail-en-eu/

Note the comment at the bottom:

it is compatible to stock 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU only.

Edit2:

Well it does work - just finished updating mine - it's awesome .

Thanks, do you have instructions? Any repercussions if I'm using ZA ICS? :)

I used the above as I have been on the EU version since ICS.
