Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

Yip got all of that. Got this from xda forum...

1. 8gb internal + 2.5 for app = 10.50gb overall. the rest 5.5gb for system needs (e.g. sgs2 has: 11.5 internal, 2gb for apps, 2.5 for system)??? moto eat 5.5gb for what?

-answer: 8gb (internal storage), 3.65gb (for apps), the rest for system needs, motocast and webtop

4. Does it go with 16 gig microSD card?

-answer: it will support upto a 32GB microSD. Verizon buyers will have in box also 16gb sdcard, international model doesn't have any sdcard inside.

bummer.....

But still the coolest phone I ever owned .

Cool...glad you love it. Just told my friend about the memory card thing. He is happy with it. Has a 16Gig SD card still from his previous blackberry that he can pop in there.

I Got a 16GB ultra SDHC for R200 so no biggy on that one. Tell your friend he wont be disappointed. Thus far i'm not.

Ocleroux, do you know the retail price in the shops? I was hoping to get one of these but very few online for sale...

Is the lapdoc any good?

Feasible using one or is it just a gimmick

Having seen the RAZR, I really like it, but still feel swayed toward the SGSII.

What support for the RAZR locally, i.e. could it be repaired locally if a screen or something cracked?

To my knowledge with Vodacom normal repair procedure is to be followed as with other advanced phones.

Got one of these today. R6999 cash or R229 per month on Business Call which works out to about R5500 all in.

I hope its a good phone, wife made me promise I can't buy another one in 2012 haha.

No accessories in the two or three stores I visited in the V&A but I am sure once I am back home I can get a screen protector or something...

Anyone else have one? How's the battery life?

Don't ruin your sexy phone with a screen protector. This just my opinion of course.
Not sure, but I think the Razr has gorilla glass. If so, then you don't need a protector. I never had one on my SGS2 and don't have one on my GSNote. Screens still perfect.
You should however get a nice case!

Just got my razr today, never imagined going Motorola, but with Android nowdays, the lines between manufacturers are getting blurred! Waiting for simswap to complete (glad i was prepared for micro sim, sales guy wasn't!) - then i can start using it properly!

Anyone know where to get a nice pouch / case for it? Don't want to detract from its looks too much though!;)

I got mt RAZR yesterday, and all I can say is that it is really, really, really cool.
I am surprised that Vodacom isn't marketing it a lot more. Even in their red sales booklet it is there, but no mention that it is a Android phone. It is just called the "RAZR XT910", no mention of DROID.
When I went to the Vodacom shop they sales guy was really pushing the Galaxy S II hard. He even went as far as to say that the specs on the S II is better than the RAZR, and he hasn't done a single one on a new contract or upgrade. I have used a S II and I can say that the RAZR doesn't feel as "flimsy" as the S II. Definitely thinner, but the price you pay is that there isn't a user replaceable battery. It appears that the RAZR doesn't have as much "bloatware" loaded as the S II.
The only issue that I am having is the lock screen, where you can unlock it, go to camera or set the phone to silent. Even if you activate the unlock key, or the unlock pattern, you first have to go thru the first screen then the second "security" screen appears.

So after 24 hours of using the phone I have no buyers remorse.

It's like that on all phones isn't it?

On the iPhone, first slide to unlock then the keypad comes up for 4 pin passcode.
RAZR is the same, swipe accross to unlock and then security.

Not sure if you swipe for camera if it ask for security...I will test in 15 minutes!

Can anyone confirm if the stock we get here has a locked/unlocked bootloader?
