hello guys

I need some help - i successfully installed the speed stick but the problem is I can only get into the cell c website. here i can go to any page on cell c so i dont think its some sort of cache - but it times out on all other pages. Any ideas please

thanks

Mod note: If you have been able to browse to sites other than www.cellc.co.za in the past, but suddenly find you can only go to www.cellc.co.za and disconnecting and reconnecting solves your problem, please see this thread.
If you are using Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 or newer please see this post.

Check if you have the data loaded *101#

Check if you are RICA'ed properly.

After a few frustrating days the issue was resolved - there was a general fault on the sim cards whereby a batch of sim cards was not activated so they did that last night. Works fine now. However CellC - this is school boy errors and surely you can avoid this.

I'm glad your problem is resolved.

I find it very interesting that you were still able to browse the Cell C website, I wonder why MTN and Vodacom were never able to do the same? I found it extremely annoying with them when my bundle was depleted and had to find some other means of getting online to purchase another.

Cell c always had that feature even on your phone. When you run out of airtimne you could still visit thier website only.

I had the same fault, they never got around to fixing my sim card but they did replace the entire bundle after 3 days of attempts and a 1 hour long tech support phone call (from them actually, was surprised when I answered :O )

Go back to the cell c shop and tell them that its the sim card. If they say its working than buy a R5 recharge voucher and try to recharge in front of them (use ur cellphone) and than show them the error message. Tell them you would like them to swap the entire package (they will give you a new sim, tell them to phone customer technical support to authorise the sim data stick swap) as you don't want to wait the 2 weeks as thats how long it takes to fix if you report an Out-Of-Box failure.

Yeah, took me 3 days to fix mine but worth it in the end considering it R41 per GB and not R238. Also take it with a pinch of salt, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Can I take it to any CellC shop or not? I bought it 60 kilometers from where I stay...I would like to avoid driving 120 km.

I had the same problem which was caused by a TCP/IP setting in Windows 7. I used a tool called TCP Optimizer to reconfigure my TCP/IP with 'optimal' settings. After that I had no internet access except for the Cell C website. After much trial and error I discovered that TCP Optimizer had enabled something called 'ECN Capability' and this was the cause of the issue. My problem went away when I set 'ECN Capability' to 'disabled'.

Only able to access Cell C website (new SIM)

This problem is very annoying. I bought an E1820 / 60GB package for my father yesterday, the first time I connected I could only visit the Cell-C web site. I was worried the SIM card hadn't been properly RICA'd for activated, but just disconnected and reconnected and all was fine.

I've had to explain to him that if he finds he can't surf he should first try the Cell-C website and then try disconnecting and reconnecting.

I've just fired up freshly RICA'd CellC modem for the first time. First issue was that the virtual CD Drive would not initialise correctly so I could install the Cell C dashboard. Uninstalling VMC fixed this problem. I then installed the dash and hit connect. The only site I could access was www.cellc.co.za. At the same time I received a SMS to say I had been RICA'd. I then disconnected and reconnected and this time received two more SMS's one to say that my air-time balance was R0 and another to say that my data bundle is at 51200 MBytes. This time I could access other sites.

So it would seem for first time connections at least there is either a delay or a necessity to disconnect and reconnect so some system can kick in.

Can anyone help? [solved - ECN Setting]

There's nothing wrong with the data stick, it works in my brothers laptop which is identical to mine. The Cell C technician "confirmed with his supervisor and with the supplier that the stick is not compatible with the i5 processor" and he was stumped when I told him it worked on my brothers laptop which also sports the i5 processor. All my settings are reset, I don't know why it won't work. It connects but has no internet access. I have windows 7. It must be something in my registry, I dono how to fix it.. Does anyone know? (It's the same running it through MDMA, connects, and no internet activity.. The Cell C program shows a few kb's going through, but not much... Full signal, 99% hspa+ with -79dbm). This is super lame...

Checked its got data loaded on it?
Drop firewall off to test?
Try another USB port?
Guess if it wasn't rica'd properly it wouldn't connect but it is.
Tryed a differant browser?(or check that "File " Work Offline" is not checked

Symptoms you have seem similar to when one has run out of credit/data - maybe see if they can reset the bundle for a try
