If your using the Black stick lets try out a differant dash
select the Huawei R182E link from here: http://mobilebusiness.bell.ca/Page....menu&EXT=MOB_off_vanity_mobileconnect_0528_TM
Remove your stick & install the above.
When you plug your stick back in the Cell C dash will open up- Close it

Under the 2 is a "Tools" box - click on that and select "Profiles"
Click on "Add" - highlight "Mobile HSPA" and then "Add"
Highlight "Create Custom Profile" then click "next"
Change the Dialled number to *99#
In Access Point Name enter internet
Click "next" - click "next" - click "next"
Enter a Profile name
Click "Finish"
Move that Profile you just created to the top of the list by using the up or down buttons then close that window.
The profile you just created should be visible now......click "connect" & lets see if that does anything differant

I am having this problem, phoned CellC, they had no idea.

It works on another PC I tried, so all I can think to do now is bloody reinstall my OS and hope that solves the problem.

Torrents work, can connect to CellC site but nothing else.

Other thread about this issue.

Okay, I connected earlier with MDMA, and my torrents were coming down between 100 and 250 kB/s.

Awesome.

I cannot connect to any sites other than the CellC site.

This is driving me bonkers.

Half the day on the phone with a CellC person on Friday and we could not solve this issue, where do I turn to next?

As said in the previous thread, I am on the verge of reinstalling, but would prefer to avoid this if possible.

Can surf other sites when I tried on another PC, so there is an issue specific to my PC.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

you could try resetting tcp/ip winsock, i had to do that once some time back before i was able to browse at all.

1. Click on Start button.
2. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
3. Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
4. Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
5. Restart the computer.

got any weird dns/proxy settings going ?

Am I right in thinking that connecting with MDMA would achieve the same goal as doing the above?
No, MDMA just uses whatever device drivers you have installed.

I don't think this is an OS or driver issue because it has happened to me with the Cell C modem plugged into my router.

Ah, as said, I am clueless when it comes to this stuff.

I am not sure what else to do though, aside from reinstall. I am out of ideas.

Did you try above 4 posts?

Yep. I've tried every suggestion made.

I am able to download torrents, so at least the bandwidth is not being wasted. As said, I think I'll need to reinstall, I just haven't had the patience to do that just yet. :p

Before you go breaking things, bear in mind I have seen this issue with an E1820 plugged into my MikroTik RB411 router (so no Windows drivers involved) and also with a Cell-C SIM in my Nokia N900 (so no E1820 involved).

Have you ever been able to visit any website other www.cellc.co.za with this SIM, or does it work normally for a while and then you find yourself only able to access www.cellc.co.za?

The reason I ask is I think there may be two different problems here with the same symptom.

I did all of it anyway, still exactly the same.

Issue is exactly this:

Torrents work. CellC site works. Any other site gets stuck on 'connecting to website'.

That's it in a nutshell.

3 Hours on the phone with CellC and they had no clue.
