Only able to access Cell C website (data services not enabled)

Torrents work. CellC site works. Any other site gets stuck on 'connecting to website'.
To be clear, this is not an occasional thing, you have never been able to visit any other website?
What is the response you get from *101# ?

Never, ever been able to connect once to any other site on this PC. My friend managed to connect to other sites with his laptop, using I think MTN's connection software.

There is something wrong in my OS I have to presume. I just have no idea what though.

ginggs wants to know whether ....... from your SIM card. Computer is irrelevant. Ask your friend to access other Web sites using your SIM card (and your modem in the case his modem is not compatible).

Eh? That was with my sim card and my modem, obviously, otherwise what would the point be? :p

Precisely why the computer is relevant, as that is where the problem lies logically, unless I am missing something.

Looks like Ginggs has been merging threads to try get some sense out of things.

Copa did you follow up on the ECN deal mentioned in post #12 of this thread,i'd never seen it before.
Go to CMD.EXE like you did before from the start/search box and type in:
netsh int tcp show global

What does it say beside "ECN Capability"
Enabled or Disabled?

I missed that post. It bloody damn well worked. :D

Speed test:

Thank you guys, so much.

Congrats :D :D :D
Probably Mach III's problem also

I have to say, what a pleasure it is, in comparison to a 384 line. :D 5 gigs is not going to last long though, at these speeds, and mine isn't even particularly fast. :erm:

Thanks again.

It says:
TCP Global Parameters

Recieve-Side scaling state - enabled
Chimney Offload state - enabled
NetDMA State - enabled
Direct Cache Acess <DCA> enabled
Recieve Window Auto-tuning level - normal
Add-on congestion control proider - ctcp
Ecn Capability - enabled
RFC 1323 Timestamps - enabled.

Was that supposed to fix it or is there more to it?

In bold is the problem
in start/search type cmd.exe ,select with right mouse "run as administator"
type in
netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled
enter

Check is now disabled by typing

netsh int tcp show global

Yep, was a truly miraculous fix for me!

Thinking back, I am guilty of using the same tcp-optimizer that Geoff used!
Thanks for the fix again!

I bought my stick yesterday and it looks like I'm having the exact same issue: I can connect to cellc.co.za but nowhere else.

ECN Capability is disabled, dashboard has been reinstalled a couple of times, and still I get nothing. Also got that text saying that I'd RICA'd the SIM so it must be active, I think.

Any suggestions?

Tried a reboot?

Contract or pre-paid? What happens if you check your balance in the dashboard (*101#)?
