It's the strangest thing. I have 2 OW gold accounts. One 2meg, one 4meg. The 4meg is almost permanently amazing. The 2meg never, ever gets decent speeds during the day. I've asked about it a few times, and I have been told that my 2meg account is running perfectly etc. Think I need to either upgrade it to a 4meg, or try out another ISP.

The wrath of corporate SA has joined the network this morning, therefore shaping will be applied.

Not to worry, we will be unshaping matters at 17:30 today for all clients so that you can catch up on your downloads.

The less you pay, the less you get.

The more you pay, the more you get. This applies across the board.

Then why do cheaper accs out perform expensive ones? we got many examples of this in responses in this thread, gamers king always working well, every day always working well, then we get replies that gold isnt working. yet they have been lead to believe they paying for a better product.

all we can tell is that more expensive accs get unshaped sooner at night, nothing about performing better in the day etc

so prove to us how these accs are managed further than being unshaped earlier at night. just above we have a user showing that he have two gold accounts and the one works and the other doesnt.

explain to us how there is this inconsistencies with your accounts.

until you explain then all the account levels are mostly if not all not so clever marketing to con ppl into paying more for the same product, and subsidicing all the cheap accs.

Great, so I will just wait until 17:30 until I can use my internet again?

Although for paying 1k a month for my account, having to constantly switch between logins when shaping is applied is a huge pain. From what Ive seen shaping hits all tiers as hard, regardless of priority. So I agree with capd.

I'm afraid each post you make is very hostile. It seems like you are out to prove a point of some sorts?

Unfortunately as much as you would like to find something on us, there isn't much to find.

Fact:

1. The network is busy, shaping will be applied.

2. A more expensive account will outperform a cheaper account during peak. The only difference between a Gold account in Cape Town for example and a Gold account in Gauteng is that Cape Town has its own IPC, and Gauteng has its own IPC.

Please stop making your accusations around every turn. They are not appreciated, and bordering on the verge of trolling.

Sadly the root of all evil is Telkom, seems all ISPs got destroyed today.

You are getting alot of value out of your account, that much I can assure you. You requested your usage stats to be logged, which we now do

I have studied these and I can assure you, paying R1500 per month you would've been long throttled at a different ISP.

Which is why I'm still with you guys. I did 1TB last month. No complaints on pure usage, but some Mondays just break everything. New account works fine though.

We have changed your routing. This has worked for some reason. Telkom is investigating.

Whom has been destroyed?

OW seems to of taken a hit with all the day time usage now that everyone is back to work. My Afrihost account is also slow and my Axxess capped doesnt work too well either.

Should there not be a disclaimer with more expensive accs that even though being advertised and lead to believe in getting better performance over a cheaper acc (which is advertised and leads ppl to believe performs worse) they still subject to factors out of your control?

i dont think its very professional to accuse me of trolling when ppl agree with me and constantly is raising issues about accs they pay more for ut dont perform.

where is the disclaimer?

while i have you, please tell us why accounts all the time stop authenticating. what is the issue here that ppl often needs new account details? what happens to the old acc?

every other post here is about accs not authenticating.

From experience I can tell you that not just OW has authentication issues. Go look at the AH thread, I've needed support with my account from them too regarding authentication. However what OW does do differently is that OW replaces the account login while AH asked me to do a port reset.

Accounts do not "all the time stop authenticating".

We have many many many clients. The posts you see here will be

1. Mostly Negative (When things go well, folks do not post)
2. When issues occur, they will post.

Last month in total we had 37 authentication faults. 70% of these were Telkom related, the other 30% were OpenWeb related, and resolved.

capd, kindly PM me your ADSL username so that I can investigate your issue? You haven't actually informed me of what your issue is, and based on the amount of negative posts you have made about OpenWeb, it is an issue that should be fixed sooner rather than later.

I look forward to your PM.

quite sure i counted more than 37 auth faults last month, and that is in this thread without all other clients not on the forum.

i am saying what others have been saying all along. there is clearly issues with authentication and account performance, simple.

do not with to pm any details but i will keep active in this thread and keep taking note of the recuring problems you dont seem to want to admit are there.

i think a disclaimer would work well, that even ppl paying for gold, must know that they might be shaped to the ground from 8 - 5.

No disclaimer needed.

If you purchase a shaped product, you will be shaped during busy network periods.

At OpenWeb we are very leniant when the network is quiet, therefore mostly unshaped access is granted during these times.

Please confirm that you are an OpenWeb client? You can do so by PMing me your ADSL username.

If you are not a client, my original statement applies.

I've had satisfactory performance with my Gold account. Though this morning it does seem to be crawling. Just connected with TelkomDSL, line is working 100%.

MrBeep, any chance I could get a routing change too?

ofcourse i am a client, and i enjoy the after hours service. the acc works great.

i do not need to be a client to speak for others and for you to pgive explanations, after all the same complaints that are constantly raised. believe me, everyone is asking the same questions.
