ofcourse i am a client, and i enjoy the after hours service. the acc works great.

i do not need to be a client to speak for others and for you to pgive explanations, after all the same complaints that are constantly raised. believe me, everyone is asking the same questions.

Funny how you speak for everyone... I've had a couple of minor hiccups but am overall happy with the service.

I think you've made your point Capd. Either Mr Beep is "hiding the truth from you" because corporate conspiracy, or the problem is your side. You seem to be terribly unhappy with OW's service so why don't you try another ISP?

At exactly 10:25 I have been throttled into the ground
I had to post this from my phone. How do I know its throttling? Websites take hours to load yet I can push traffic on raw sockets at high speed.

Please fix... I am trying to work from home.
As bad as MWEB are I never had this crap from them! I cannot tolerate this!

Leoni responded on Saturday. We did not receive a response from you, then she emailed you again.

No she didn't. I got a response from Leon & told him I was still experiencing the same issues I had from friday. Leoni responded on sunday morning at 8am & the issue was resolved. She never emailed again.

Overall I'm happy with OW but support needs to be beefed up on weekends.

I have been with OpenWeb for a short period of time and my initial account was the Gamers King account and that flew, loved the service. Upgraded to Gold and things went pear shaped, after hours was great in terms of speed but during the day it was no where near the Gamers King account. After a bit of back & forth on the support email and trying quite a few account names I was finally enjoying good service again, then the new year drop occurred which frustrated me even more because of the fact that I had been doing the account tango so often in December. Fingers crossed but the new credentials seem to be going smooth now however I am no longer home during the day so day service is no longer a real issue for me anymore just needs to survive this last week where the wife will always be home :P.

Speeds seems to be getting worse... :( had to switch over to my 3G... First time ive seen it this bad.

if this is the trend then I am changing to another ISP by close of business today

is this the 1st time youre working from home?

a sobering way to find out about the daytime shaping, even if youre on gold..

I work from home often and it is the first time it is this bad.

EDIT: it seems even my 3G is battling with international traffic :(

This can't be ordinary shaping. Something has to be wrong. Been with openweb 1.5 years now.

Agreed. I tried 3G and my 1GB Free at AH and all of the struggled with international traffic....

Yeah wife just got hold of me saying that the Internet is extremely slow. Asked her to run a IS speedtest over 7 minutes ago and it is still trying to complete. Good thing I am not home... :P Its funny at work our IS account is flying! Never had it go this fast before.

It seems that all the residential users have been sacrificed for the corporate's. Can't even browse local. :( Not sure if i should shoot an email to support if it's a bunch of us experiencing the same thing.

Afrihost is working just fine.

I want to upgrade from 1Mbps Gold Uncapped to the 2Mb Gold Uncapped (Power Edition) they have now.

What's the easiest way to do this with OpenWeb?

oh yes.. let us dare not forget corporate SA is so special. True to tradition the consumer is less than snake ****.
I have been advised to rather look at Afrihost and ignore Openweb's fanboys

Extremely slow browsing again today - started last week mostly day times. On Gold Orange 4Mbps at R649 - expect the browsing to be good for that price. Don't care about other services during the day but at least http traffic must work. Currently unusable.

Last weekend was not great :( I kept getting disconnected randomly and the only way I know how to get this issue fixed TEMPORARILY by restarting my brand new router that I bought last week (Thought it would fix the 1-month old issue PERMANENTLY >_<).

Today I requested my line to downgrade back to 2Mbps and that was done. All of a sudden my SNR margin looks very healthy (>20Db). Hope the issue is fixed for good. I will see tonight if it's really gone. My liver tells me that my Openweb account's dodgy.

This is what I found...
They're shaping aggressively.

I run M2M protocols... In one of the systems I developed, we use UDP packets to send small chunks of data... Guess what... those are flying through like a bat out of hell.

Last week I saw how suddenly at the stroke of 5PM the internet changed and all the throttling went away. I am willing to bet good money that by 5:00pm today this will suddenly vanish and things will work again.
This is not the kind of internet I expect, nor willing to pay for. I can understand that protocol i.e. torrent etc... is restricted during working hours, but this is NOT ON! This is bull****. I am effectively as good as cut off from the internet.

I am waiting for the Afrihost rep to get back to me about getting a trial account, if they work, then its bye bye Openweb. Again, the truism is thus- do not listen to people giving advice on Mybroadband.co.za

That is the hallmark of IS shaping. The taps are immediately opened at 17:00. Been with openweb long enough to know and expect this (how i miss the VB backbone). However, I still think there is something wrong somewhere in the system causing this degraded service. Will shoot off an email.
