Kindly PM me so that I can test the account for you.

Hi,

My OW Gold account is pretty much useless during office hours from about 10ish onwards. All I really need it for during these times is remoting (Teamviewer) and even this isn't possible, the connection is slower than a dial up. I can't work like this and will have to leave OW if it continues to hinder my work. It's fine after hours and weekends.

Can something be done to resolve my issue?

If it's for business purposes I would recommend you get a business account. Our connection at the office hasn't skipped a beat since we got it (Business Platinum).

I accept the terminology, but I feel it should still at least be useable during work hours.

That's the difference between the business and consumer accounts though, there is very high priority on the business accounts and high redundancy to prevent these kinds of issues in a business environment.

Email sent to support. Holy fudge Batman but this is slow... :( Can't even browse to www.timeslive.co.za without A: Page failing to load or B: Failing to render correctly due to the slow speed. I was hoping that after a week of Business being back we would see an improvement but it would appear not :?. Just for interests sake here is my tracert to timeslive after my failed attempts:

It seems to have picked up again. I wonder how long it will last...

I was just about to post about this, but you beat me to it.

There is currently a general issue with some sites not loading related to DNS.

The engineers are working on this. We apologise for the inconvenience caused

This might be a bit more serious than DNS and may extend upstream from OpenWeb.

A lot of International routes from both OpenWeb & MTN I've tried today are dead dead dead.

Including, of course, the routes to my AWS servers. Damn you murphy. :-(

Please let us know as more info comes in MrBEEP!

Well all seems fine now :).

Wish I could say the same. It's lunch time now and no one's been able to work yet today.

Waiting to hear back from support but I must confess at this point of the proceedings it would be irresponsible of me to not be looking at alternatives to OpenWeb.

Problems do get sorted out but our downtime over the last six months has simply been too high.

I see Leon is working on this.

There is currently a general network notice out regarding certain sites not loading.

The upstream provider is working on the issue

I'm thinking of moving from a 2mb Gold uncapped account to a 4mb Titan Uncapped account (I already have a 4mb line).
I've been told that this "downgrade" will result in the following:
-Increased contention ratio by 99%
-Decreased network priority
-1 less layer of redundancy

That said, I'd then have a 4mb line instead of a 2mb line.

So, am I correct in assuming that general browsing and youtube should (overall) be faster (due to the 4mb)
and news server downloads should be slightly faster after hours (due to 4mb, minus more contention)
?

Is anyone else having problems with gmail POP/SMTP in outlook?
I can't send any messages :(

EDIT: it's working now again.

Basically everything after hours will be faster. Not so much during the day.

Is anyone else having trouble with intermittent browsing issues? A lot of my webpages keep timing out and then loading upon refresh. I'm trying to figure out if it's a problem with the account or on my side.

Any theories as to how bad the "not so much" would be, compared to a 2mb gold? (I realise it's thumb-sucking, but semi-informed opinions are welcome)

I'm secretly hoping it'll be the same during the day, and faster after hours.

Me too, on Gold Original 4MB.

International seems a bit slow, getting around 80kb/s, but local browsing seems fine.
