As explained earlier, torrents take the lowest priority on the network.

Due to the Windows / Microsoft updates, torrents are expected to be slow in some regions until at least the end of the week.

Hmmm im sitting around the 100kbps mark on torrents - 4mb line. Definitely slow. Western Cape

My torrents just sit at 0.1KB/s from 8am till about 4/5pm since the beginning of this week, so sad :(

Remember the days when shaping literally didn't happen with OpenWeb? Pepperidge farm remembers.

Im afraid torrents will take the lowest priority during high network demand.

Luckily, things do quieten down after hours, and shaping is relaxed. This week however is different due to the high high high high high demand the Windows Updates have placed on the network. Around 20 times more traffic is being used than normally.

Having difficulty streaming Youtube at 360p atm.

Can't even update an iPad app.

These Windows updates seem to be more detrimental to the network than Bittorrent or NNTP combined. Surely they should be shaped likewise?

My Windows updates are taking an age to download. Been trying to download 15MB worth of WSUS updates for the last 30 minutes, I'm on 13.2MB now.

This is on a business class platinum account, what gives?

This is the trick.

We shape Windows updates, folks are unhappy. We leave them, it floods the network.

We are trying to find a balance with this problem.

But it shouldn't be the case on the business package we use? Understandable for consumer accounts though.

Double post.

20KB/s on a 2mb Silver (http driver downloads from Toshiba EU site).... Went over to my cousin and downloaded them there in a few mins. Seems Mweb clients aren't downloading Windows updates as much......

I have an 4Mbps Uncapped Unshaped account which is not functioning at all. I am in Paarl, Western Cape. I have send various mails to open web support and they say nothing is wrong, but download speeds are running at 10KB/s and this happens between 8 and 5 in the day, after hours its fine and runs close to 600KB/s. They do a speed test and send me screenshots, and I do the same test and the results are astronomically different.

Why is this? If it is shaping why then do we pay for unshaped accounts? And why does it work for 2 weeks and then suddenly there's problems and you get a new account and it works again?

Buy a cheap 1GB of prepaid data from another ISP and run the same speed tests using that. If you get full speed there, you can definitively tell support it's not your line and move the process along.

I have done this and send openweb the screenshot of that test. My line is working 100% on the prepaid data.

Well, if it's an uncapped, unshaped account and your line's fine, this sounds like a job for MrBeep. (cue Superman music) PM him on the forum, he's one of the hardest working ISP owners/reps I've ever met, sure he'll be more than happy to help you.

Is it not better that the products work as advertised rather than the CEO working overtime?

Absolutely.

However, I also find it comforting to know that at the end of the day, Keoma's willing to go the extra mile.
