OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread

Torrents running at 10 kb/s and NZB's at 2 kb/s on a 4mb line.

Not a happy camper

Yeah, it seems seems that Openweb sux sweaty camel b@lls during the day...

And it ain't Telkom this time.

We will need to start hearing some constructive feedback soon about what is amiss in Openweb land or at least when things will get better with some reasonable timelines attached.

This really seems to me to be a capacity issue that is facing us - I don't feel like going through that whole process of denial before things are eventually addressed.

I like Openweb, I want it fixed, soon.

Open cards.

This!

Shaping is a part of life in SA, it's just not normally this bad. It should sort itself out soon once OpenWeb's(or IS's) techies strike the correct balance. I went through the same thing with MWeb when they upgraded some routers in London with a new traffic management system, took a couple weeks for the service to return to normal levels.

Shaping is when certain protocols are prioritized over others, eg. torrents throttled to death so that web browsing can work. when ALL protocols are struggling along at 5KB/s and Gmail is timing out, then its not shaping to blame any longer....

im still getting decent speeds on my 10mb gold uncapped. torrents have been coming down at 150-200 kilobytes per second all day. local speed tests show 6mbps

igame cod4 servers unplayable right now even with gamers special. 400+ ping even though there is nothing else on the line.

Kindly PM me your ADSL details so that I can take a look at your issue.

Hi MrBEEP, I have a friend who is having endless problems with is current ISP, he would like to try a trial account to see if your service is better and possibly switch over, who can he email?

He can drop a mail to [email protected]

We would be more than happy to assist

Kindly PM me more details, including your ADSL username, as it should not be shaped.

Hey MrBEEP. I changed DNS in my router to use Google's DNS servers, instead of the ones provided by my PPPoE connection. And having much better results. iTunes store connects every single time and quickly.

Not sure if that helps.

Thank you for the update.

We will have a look at this issue

It seems like there was a general issue with iTunes earlier according to the senior engineers. It was not connecting even on Cell C 3G.

It does seem to be up and running now though.

Will that help though? According to what I'm reading here, its not just my issue but a general network issue. I PM'd my details to you 2 weekends ago and you have me a trial acount to use while you investiagted. The trial account was flawless, everything it should have been. But after 4 days it stopped working and I had to go back to the normal account, which is even worse now that it was back then.

Its 22:44 Friday night, and local FTP download is full line speed! Great performance, and I'm sure this is gonna go on all weekend until 8am Monday morning. Its that happens after then that I'm concerned about.

PS - I couldn't send this as the page hadn't loaded completely and the "submit" button wasn't there. I had to stop my FTP download in order to get this webpage to load. That's another complaint that I have when network is busy.. I have to stop whatever I;m downloading just in order to get a webpage to load

RTMP has been working well today. Even during office hours. Hope it lasts.

How can you expect to max out your line with ftp and surf at the same time? If you only have eg. 100kb\s and you use 100kb\s there is nothing left for other stuff. When I browse I throttle my own nntp so that I'm able to browse.

Or am I misunderstanding your predicament?
