OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread

Hi Guys,

I recently purchased the Gamers King package and to be really honest I am not pleased at all.

Allow me to explain.

It started about a week ago, when playing Dota 2, everything is fine for a couple of minutes and then in the middle of a game latency shoots up to 140+ms, I pause, reboot my router, make sure nothing else is running (updates etc) and reconnect to the game just to find that the problem is still ongoing. There are also these very quick spikes, very very quick but in short succession so it's stuttering half the time.

When this issue popped up again last night I (mid game) changed my account to that of another ISP and no more problems. I played Dota 2 the whole night and didn't experience one single spike.

I'd love if you guys can sort this out because I left a working, cheaper, 4mb uncapped alternative because I was promised that when it comes to gaming, Openweb Gamers King is the #1 choice, and now I'm left regretting my decision.

Are there international connectivity issues again?

My Broadband loads as per normal but google services are just about dead.

Try these Google DNS settings:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Email [email protected] with the IP addresses that Dota uses while gaming so they can add them to their list of prioritized IPs. I did it for my WoW EU server (Twilight's Hammer / France) after I was having bad daytime spikes and now I'm getting +- 190ms most of the time :)
 
Kindly email [email protected] with more details so that we can correct this.

Gaming is always prioritised on this package

Dead for me totally no throughput.......using spare webafrica account.
my account is a afterhours one.
Anyone else in Cape Town with the same problem

We have made some changes, improvements and upgrades in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape regions. We are not quite complete yet, but have covered enough for folks to start making a difference.

We would love to receive your feedback if you are in these areas.

Seems pretty snappy at the moment. Working from home today, so I'm able to test my DSL during the day for the first time.!

I'm in PE BTW.
