This is certainly something we are working on.

We want to meet somewhere in the middle.

On the one hand, we do not want to log usage, but on the other hand, we do want to offer you some tools to better manage your account.

I would love to hear your ideas

MrBEEP you legend you!

I have a question;

I was wondering if, via my CP, I am able to see like a graph of my traffic I'm doing - sorta like Cacti or can one ask for it?

I obviously am not interested in how much data I'm pushing, more like, what my line is doing, when it is busy or not.

@MrBeep

I've sent you the email earlier as requested.

Just one thing, I would just like to confirm that your Gold accounts are completely unthrottled.

Hi Darkwater

They are unthrottled, but are shaped during peak periods

MrBEEP,

Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I have been using my uncapped Silver (special) account for the last 3 months or so with no problems whatsoever. Thanks! ;)

I am really happy to hear that! Thank you for the positive feedback!

Well, Cacti type graphing, if you not logging usage, try showing usage.
For example, I share my ADSL with 3 people in my block of flats. But if 1 was say to hack my ADSL (wireless) and excessively use my line, I wouldn't really know - well, I would, I would find that my internet is dead slow and I can't see why, then I would have to turn off my wireless completely and then monitor it.
If I had say, Cacti type graphing, I would be able to see usage, depending on the agreement of the users - my line shouldn't be maxing out, yet, if it was, I'd be able to see somewhat that there is something happening.
I hope I'm making sense.

Like right now, my PC at home is off, so techincally, my line should be dead, but I wouldn't know if it was in use or not because I can't see anything.
If I was able to login and see some sort of graphing, I'd be able to see if my line was being used by someone other than myself.

What about usage per day, which we then reset?

OR, we offer clients a choice of whether we log their usage or not? Put the power in your hands?

Why not both?
It shouldn't be to hard to setup something like that... I used to work at a IT company (±5/6 years) and to setup say Cacti (I am asking about it, because that's what they used) and they could show so much using the Cacti setup. Usage per hour, per day, per month, traffic for the last 5 minutes, 1 hour, day, month etc etc etc etc.
They also used to seperate local traffic from international traffic, but obviously, those users had 2 accounts running, but you get what I'm saying.

Anyone on the gamer account?

Diablo 3 and Dota (EU) has a ping of 250 - 300+, speedtest to a random EU server give 187.

Gamer account should be better?

somewhere on the clientzone please! you insist that we shouldnt use that other site but there is no other way of tracking the usage. i have that networx thing on my laptop but do you think i have looked at it? convenience is checking on my mobile. that would rock.

the short answer is yes, i would like to see my usage.

I know it's uncapped, and I know you are not as strict as say MWEB, but I still wanna monitor my usage... for me, it's not about having a competition with someone, who can do the most GIGS, it's just so I can monitor it.

So far my Openweb 1mb standard test account is performing much better than my Mweb "premium" account. Well done Openweb :)

In the last 3 months I have tried 3 different ISP's Cybersmart , Axxess and Openweb respectively. I use a 1mbps ADSL line and I signed up for their uncapped home adsl GOLD EDITION or whatever. First of all I can honestly say Openweb has been THE WORST of the 3 I have tried and have since cancelled my subscription. For a company that advertises a service that is meant to prioritise gaming and downloads they have been terrible , my tenant cannot even play online poker as his connection keeps dropping , I run online exams and the software also did not run as it should AND lastly browsing is close to unbearable as you sit and wait up to 10 minutes for Gmail or Facebook to load?! I have spoken with the call centre numerous times and had my ports reset through Telkom and none of that makes any difference , this is normal and this is the speed you pay for?! And as an added bonus to their service , the call centre is not available after 5 or on weekends. They have since blocked me from commenting on their Facebook page and I cannot wait to be with a different ISP. Anyone out there looking to sign up with Openweb - this may be what you are in for!

I'm very happy with OpenWeb but thanks for your post and your opinion.

Firstly a warm warm welcome to MyBroadband. I am so happy that OpenWeb has been your inspiration for creating your new nick on here.

I am so sorry to hear that you have experienced this. Is there anything I can assist with? If so, kindly PM me your ADSL username so that I can investigate.
