Hi Friends,

We have taken the matter up with our supplier and and senior engineers and they are attending to it.

We have informed the supplier that we need this resolved this week, as unfortunately right now it is simply not good enough.

We believe they have the best of the best looking at the problem. I am in constant contact with Internet Solutions regarding the issue.

Thank you for your patience.

I remember experiencing the same issue with Afrihost exactly one year ago when they were with IS. Don't really know if it was and IS issue or not but sure feels nostalgic.

I can confirm that things on Afrihost's side is also taking some network strain and shaping is being applied. Seems all the ISP's are experiencing some issues.

seems unshaped as Bittorent is running at full speed too.

Out of pure frustration to get some form of normality for daytime use, I signed up with Telkom Internet for a 4M uncapped service.

Daytime use is flying, completely new experience for me. I can actually use the internet during the day now.

I am on the Openweb 4M Uncapped Gamers Delight package. My overall download throughput throughout the month is phenomenal on this account, although it is almost impossible to use during the day for even normal browsing.

I have had some severe gaming latency issues for the last few months, so I decided to also sign up for a Telkom Internet account so that Telkom can resolve it without having the option to blame a third-party.

But right now, I am astounded by the performance of this account.

For now, I will use the Telkom Account for daytime use and gaming and then revert to the Openweb one for unshaped hours.

It's an expensive option, but I need to have my latencies and pings resolved.

I am paying the same amount for my Telkom account as for my Openweb 4M one, so I will compare the two for the next month at least.

**EDIT** Actually it is a bit less, as I also now get the bundled discount from Telkom that is another R95 less per month.

I am holding thumbs that this performance issue is resolved soon with Openweb.

I am referring to slow daytime browsing and streaming.

These protocols should not be slow.

Shaping will however take place on torrents / downloads etc during peak. This is normal.

However, the priority items should not be slow.

Which matter are you referring to MrBEEP? The slow IS newsgroups or the general poor daytime browsing speeds?

I am on Original Gold 2MB, get very slow browsing and download speed below 10KB/s.

email support, Leon say shaping is applied as the network is quite busy. :erm:

Never in my 12 months with OpenWeb have I had browsing and YouTube being shaped like this. Definitely not normal.
