PM sent. Thanks.Kindly PM me so that I can look into your problem.
Can we get feedback around streaming?
There seems to be no top-up options though... so if the cap is hit, what then ?
To be fair, I have had no real complaints in over three years... but needs are now requiring large peak-time downloads (drop-box and WeTransfer / YouSenIt files) that will probably result in the automatic shaper doing its thing on this account. I have noticed some more aggressive shaping this month.
Keeping under 3GB a day is doable for the 100GB unshaped, capped account... my only concern is what happens if or when this might be exceeded in that month...
Streaming of anything in particular?
YouTube is perfect. I can even stream in 720 now which I couldn't do before. Still has the occasional buffer but I ran a YouTube speed test and all is fine. Streaming from Supersport is also perfect - no hiccups at all yesterday aside from buffering that was due to my line stats dropping because of a storm that hit.
So far I'm super pleased about this. Openweb also send out a daily usage report so I can keep track of where I am. Last night I was at about 6% of total usage but I did an inordinate amount of downloading on the line yesterday and today. Things will return to normal from here on out, and I don't see me hitting that cap any time soon.
All I can say is that if you are using under 100Gb per month, and I am based on the stats my router gave me, then the capped account makes sense...
I'm afraid I do not understand this post.
You are getting 3.15Mbps on a 2Mbps account? How is this a problem?
Shaping looks at the following:
1. Service level
2. Network load
3. Forecasting of load
4. When the network is at critical peak, it will differentiate between those downloading during peak and those that are not. If you are, your browsing will be shaped until about an hour after you stop them.
Why do you guys do this? Is it like some kind of punishment? Seems a bit dick
EDIT: also browsing isn't 'shaped', it should be the highest priority protocol - so in essence this is throttling and not shaping as far as I understand it?

Speedtest shows 3.15Mbps at the moment, on Openweb 2MB Leon Account.
However, when opening 9gag.com and scrolling down as much as possible, i get around 1.5Mbps
When I switch to Telkom account, 3.30Mbps![]()
