A quick update.

The impact of this outage should not be very big. However, you might notice some more shaping during busy periods. We do trust though that the issue will be resolved this evening, but as history dictates, with Seacom anything is possible.

Our failover links have however all kicked in properly.

Will my sudden jump in ping from 195 to 255 in League of Legends also be caused by this?

Our failover links have however all kicked in properly.

Heads UP! to OpenWeb for promptly switching their clients onto the redundant fail-over links.

I've been testing the 2Mbps standard account for about 48Hrs and speeds look good. Torrents are slower than Mweb though.
I think its time to change ISP's and upgrade to 4Mbps.

I wanted to downgrade from 2MB Gold to 2Mbps Standard Uncapped – R209pm and just got this email back,

"Im afraid the supplied does not allow us to downgrade accounts to the promotional specials."

i am not sure whats the reason for that?is it only for new customers?

Hi bar1,

The promotions do not allow for downgrades im afraid.

You can however add the account as an additional account if you'd like?

Any idea why this would happen? seems there is a bottleneck between 4 and 7, speedtest doesnt even get to 1mb on this 6mb account, line is synching at 6mb just checked.

Can you please call Telkom on 10210 and ask them to recreate your port.

Once done, and the problem persists, please drop us a mail: [email protected]

There are general network issues currently.

Due to the new prices, i am not longer interested in the 2MB gold uncapped for R299.

what are my other options?
also, if i cancel today will my account be canceled on march the 1st?
Thanks,Bar1

We require a calendar months cancellation notice period.

Please submit the cancellation notice to: [email protected]

You can however downgrade to a Vanilla Uncapped service, as this is not a promotion: http://www.openweb.co.za/vanilla_uncapped.html

MrBEEP, I would also like to know. "We require a calendar months cancellation notice period." is a policy all ISP's now have or most atleast. However, with companies like Afrihost whom also have the same policy, you can cancel before the 25th of the month and it will be cancelled by the 1st. How exactly does OpenWebs policy work?

You have to give a calendar months notice, i.e. 30 days.

If you cancel now your account will be cancelled at the end of March.
