Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

There is currently a major network fault causing slow speeds and high latencies.

Engineers are working on the issue. We apologise for the inconvenience

Finally.....but this has been going on for some time yes? Speeds sucked last week too and it was blamed on Apple....

Last weeks issue was separate to the issue experienced today.

We have however contacted our supplier for answers.

I suppose these visits to dial up speeds serve to keep us grateful for those days when things are fast.

Local is lekker, international sucks.

Has anyone noticed a drop in speed (on the 10 Mbps after hours uncapped account), from just after 8 pm? My speed went from ~ 640 KB/s to 520 KB/s :( Also noticed that there is no dial-tone on my phone line (admittedly I haven't picked up the handset in ages). In the Magalliessig / Fourways area.

Silly question; Are you sure it's plugged in? :p

Yes, it was plugged in. I have reseated all the connections, and unplugged the phone from the line for now. After restarting my ADSL modem, my line speed has gone back up to it's usual 6 Mbps :) So, I'll leave it like this for now, and see if tomorrow I can get dial tone. Internet > Voice :)

There seem to be an awful lot of complaits coming from the same group of people...

I assume OW has sold thousands of Gold accounts and I know people are more likely to complain loudly than complement loudly.

Between my dad and I, we've avaeraged 8 gigs a day on the 4 meg gold, and apart from yesterday during the day, we've been getting full speed after hours and 190kB/s from 9am-5pm

Certainaly worth the extra money paid for the premium service.

Poiz, I still think there might be an issue with you line unrelatedto OW. I was testing a line on the same exchange as yours yesterday and was getting 500kB/s. It might be an issue specific to your line or rack in the DSLAM

I have the same speed issue. I can hardly browse the internet or download a 8 MB file.

Hi guys I was told a while back you'd be looking at an unshaped 2mb product - but still nothing - as most others I am finding shaping on your "gold" - accounts too heavy

There is no such thing as a "standard gold" account. OW only sells standard accounts and gold accounts.

Openweb had Gold Plus and has Gold unshaped - also they do not only sell standard and gold - they have silver too. I think my question was pretty self explanatory without your observations
