I don't use torrents. If I really have to then I use my downstorm account.

I've just started using a Gold Uncapped 1MB account and I'm quite impressed with overall performance.

I am interested in the shaping of sites like Megaupload. I know that it is in fact shaped but does everyone experience the same low speeds that I do? It's slower than 56k dial up (<1 kbps at times). That seems a little abnormal to me.

I say try upgrade to GOLD PLUS and on IS.

Altech 4MB in DBN just died for me, very slow local/international, anyone else? Switched to backup Afrihost account and all good, so it's definitely Altech.

Lol, this thread has been very quiet lately - seems everybody is happy. I am very happy at the moment - December been awesome so far and it seems I forgot to send my cancellation through that I was planning. Oh well, I'll just be a broke guy with awesome internet for a bit longer

My browsing is a bit slow...oh wait I guess it's got something to do with the fact that I'm getting full 4m line speed all the time! So nothing to complain about here. I'm absolutely happy with my 4m gold account.

Just to clarify, you have rebooted your modem/router and waited about 30mins to see what happens?

I am by no means saying you don't know the procedures but just getting it out of the way

Last bet is to Contact MrBeep and ask him to look into it, he can do a port reset for you

or atleast ask TK to do it as it confuses me who does this sometimes haha.

What I don’t understand is why I can get full speed downloading from ftp://ubuntu.mirror.ac.za but poor speed from all the other international sites.

WOW. ok so i was kinda busy last week so I had no chance to download. I mailed Mrbeep and 10-15mins later got a reply with new username and password. Compared the two connections and it tripled in speed. Thanks MRBEEP your awesome!

from what time will the gold packages be unshaped on weekends(Friday night)? 7pm...10pm...?

Gold is a shaped package unless you have the gold unshaped account, there isn't a specific time when it will be "unshaped" but shaping will be less (or mostly unnoticeable) during off-peak times (round about after 10pm and before 7am and on weekends).
