Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

My downloads were going at 400KB/sec and a few minutes ago dropped to about 200KB/sec - was very sudden, there must still be something wrong.

Hey all, recently got the special 1Mbit uncapped account (where they were only 200 of them).
Downloads with Astraweb are SLOOOOOOW, 1Mbit account on 384K line. Downloads at like 5KB/s and then stops and so it continues.

Just tested the same account on my iBurst connection and jumps up to 100KB/s within 5 seconds (over logmein).
So are Openweb having issues or do they heavily shape such things? :-/

What backbone are you on? BCS or IS?
It shouldn't be that slow, the shaping over weekends are normally pretty relaxed. Maybe a network issue.

Well then you're on Digichilli. Can't remember ever having issues on that one. Maybe just email support@ and ask them if there's an issue.

To make sure, do a speedtest at speedtest.net, it will say at the bottom what network you're on.

your username also gives it away.

@vb.co.za is vodacom
@dsl-bcsnet.co.za is BCS group

Yeah, I am with BCS group. Its quite pathetic.
452ms ping to the SAIX Rosebank server, doing the speedtest from PTA.

@froot. How's the "new" IS treating you? Able to browse international sites during office time?

Yup. It's lightyears better. Only thing (I've tested) I don't get full speed on during office hours is usenet.

Nice. DSH-h giving me headaches again. Packet loss on Teamspeak etc at specific times, everyday. Think I need to change again. I bet MrBeep hates me.

BCSNet is having core router issues today according to Keoma. My "Gold" BCSNet account is usually very reliable.. proved to be more reliable than DSLH. I've always been a Web Africa (DSLH) fanboy but there are so many issues the past few months..

I moved to a new house and tried connecting to my Openweb Gold 4mbit account for the first time just now. It says my username and password do not match when trying to connect via PPPoE. So sad :( Email Keoma, so let's see when he'll respond.

Hi froot,

I had a look at your account logs, and the fault was not with IS or the account. IS was up and running without a hitch.

:(

IS went down for me from like 11pm until now :(

Ok thanks.

I checked, sorry, it seems it was my line that went down (weird, my line hasn't gone down in almost two years). LCP down, LCP down... for a couple of hours.

Mad packet loss on DSL Heaven for me.

Everything goes pear shaped after ndn-ip-esr-3.ipnet.wa.co.za
